carolina can't afford...munnerlyn?

Recommended Posts

they are keeping gamble.......that would be very good if he turns out to be healthy for about 4 more years.....dont know though.

captain is good but, there are other slot corners that are better and could come at a cheaper price in fa.

$3-5M for Cap? HELL NO.

Mathieu being available in the 5th or 6th is a pipe dream unless he's just tanking the absolute hell out of interviews.

Capt will get 3 million a year. I don't think you realize that most good starting CBs make north of 6+ now, 3 million isn't that much.

There is no way Mathieu goes higher then 4th or 5th. He doesn't have the strength or vertical to be an outside corner, which drops him down, and that's not even factoring in that he's been out of football for a year and been kicked off a team.

Honey badger?

Currently, This guy has drug related issues....what's going to happen when he has buku's of cash at his disposal?

I wouldn't take a chance but that's just me

And Munnerlyn is replaceable. So if he wants to be paid like a starter. Whatever

Captain was ranked the 2nd worst RCB at the start of the season.

FFB_LCBs_medium.JPG

And he was ranked dead last in 2011

https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2012/01/12/cornerbacks-a-glance-at-the-2011-numbers/

or bottom 5 depending on your metrics

http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-analysis/2012/worst-cornerback-charting-stats-2011

And 2012 (sort by SC or TF or pretty much any stat on this page) was pretty poor

He is undersized and not a good tackler. I like watching him because he brings energy but just isn't that good.

If you run DeAngleo like he is Jerome Bettis (plays and situations)....he wouldn't be good.

Captain has been asked to be more than he is and away from what he does out of desperation. He is a good nickel....bad #2 CB.

I'm not convinced he is a good nickel either. His stats reflect playing time at both over the years.

Captain was a good bargain for a 7th round pick, but will not be sorely missed. If Gamble comes back or we sign/draft a starter, remember we still have Josh Thomas and Josh Norman, along with the other guy who played well last season. We aren't really hurting for someone to play nickel as much as we are a #1 shutdown guy.
