carolina can't afford...munnerlyn?

For starters, Rivera doesn't do the contracts. Secondly, you're giving to much importance to Captain..

I think he means Rivera should back his bags bc he would be given poo to work with. If we can't afford the Captain's of the NFL we are in trouble

I really don't know HOW to feel about this...

Maybe we don't have the money to sign a nickle because we have grander plans for it. That is what I'll go with...

Good luck with that. Thomas, Norman, and number 1 pick being a corner. Definitely bank on it at this point.

This. Captain is worth solid nickel CB money because that's what he is. If he can get starter money elsewhere, then best of luck to him.

DING DING DING!

Cap: "But coach, you said I was the best slot cornerback you'd ever seen!"

Ron: "Yea... So I'll pay you like a top tier nickelback."

Edit:

Does anyone know what the situation with Dockery is?

Not having our nickle corner will be tragic to this secondary. He was really valuable and will leave a bigger hole to fill than Gamble's.

Actually a hole in the secondary prob would give up less TDs than Captain to be honest.

If they keep Gamble, this is a non-issue. The other corners on the roster show some promise. They could bring in a couple late round/practice squad guy and be set at corner. If the let go of Gamble AND Munnerlyn...they instantly have a need at corner.

I have a feeling Gettleman will be working the phones trying to trade down because this team has a lot of needs and not a lot of draft picks. Move down into the late 20's int the first round and gain a 3rd? Maybe a 2nd? Would be worth it because that extra player on a team with no money to sign any FA's.

I really like Captain, and want him to stay for his special teams, hard play and to cover the slot receiver But if he goes to Altanta or Tampa Bay and becomes one of their starters- good luck to him, he did not fare well for us playing on the outside

    • Some of you who are not sold on Canales are insane. His main purpose was to turn around Bryce Young’s career and he did that. Of all of the teams in the top 10 of the NFL draft, we were the team that was consistently showing the most fight week in and week out. Our players never quit on the season. The offense which he is responsible for took a huge step forward compared to last year, despite the lack of skill talent  that we have. It was our defense that was a mess. That’s one of my critiques on Canales. He should’ve gotten rid of Evero and hired his own DC that shares the same vision. But as a whole, I can’t see how people are not pleased with what Canales did with this team. I’d give him an 9/10
    • One of the first thoughts after the game yesterday was that JT was going to jump all over it. He's been more favorable about BY from the beginning, and so yesterday must've felt like Christmas.
    • Maybe, but they were always going to be an impossible team to accurately mocked right now. They have an absurd amount of cap room, what they need right now will not be what they need come draft day.  They can make multiple big splash signings and even make trades for players who need new contracts and their teams don't want to give it to them. OT and WR might be their two biggest needs right now, but it wouldn't be unreasonable to think they could go into the draft needing neither of them.  I think a LT will be their top FA priority, also think they're going to make a big offer to Higgins, and I could see them being a team in the running to trade for someone like DK Metcalf as they need a WR like him and they have the cap space to give him a big new contract.
