What would Marty Hurney do if he wasn't fired....

Odds are he would do some light restructures (magic) and keep HIS roster intact. Then head to the draft. Is there a chance the new GM is exactly what Hurney was?

It will be very odd to have a new GM come in and nothing gets shook up year 1....Hurney would have found away to get under the cap and most likely kept his boys...then headed to the draft.

Did Hurney simply do what the Big Cat wanted? Then took the fall b/c they needed someone....and he was ready to get out?

Once the determination was made to keep the current coaching staff, the new GM wasn't going to be able to shake things up much if at all. He needs to follow the same rough plan and get/retain players that fit Rivera's scheme.

He'd do the exact same thing Gettleman is doing now and he'd get us under cap too.

The difference? Gettleman won't award the ridiculous contracts that Hurney was rewarding.

Sorry, but even the best of teams go over cap. Hurney WAS a cap genius he was just not a good at judging talent past the first round or negotiating contracts.

Also, years of boring Free Agency might now be at an end for us Panther fans.

But Hurney keeping his old roster intact post Fox greatly handicapped Rivera.....new GM should of tranformed the roster w/ the new coach.

To get and obtain what Rivera needs that needs to include more than the draft and your standard bargain budget bodies.

How do we know that? If JR sets the tone he wants HIS guys rewarded...

I guess that is what I am proposing. Right now, for a new GM....he has been very quiet and pretty much kept the train running as Hurney left it.

Really, all our problems are because Fox Hurney Gettleman refuses to cut the veterans and give younger players a chance...

not saying that...

Saying we have transitioned to a new coach and now new GM......and really the added players from the draft are the only significant changes to date (which could change). It would just be odd by NFL standards to see such little change.

We have younger players I think should of been shown the door w/ Fox (and Hurney should of been gone then as well)

Not exactly sure what the OP is asking? But I would imagine that Hurney would be working to get us under the cap, just as Gettlemen is doing. The main difference being, I see it that Hurney would probably stop once he hits the cap so he can keep his team together. Where I am hoping Gettlemen is going to work to get us to a point we can actually add some talent.

This team is going to have a few roster tweaks once the smoke clears. We haven't done much, yet we are almost home already. Once we get to the meat of the problem, we can make some moves to improve.

Hurney would work to keep his team together. Gettlemen, hopefully, is working to improve the team. Big difference. At least in my mind anywho.
