Report: Panthers expected to release Gamble

We're currently over 9 million so cutting Gamble gets us right under the cap... Mr. Gettleman would still have to make moves if he wanted to purse any FA

Not according to various other posts. After the Kalil, Nakamura restructures, the higher than projected cap for this season and other whatnot, some sources have us 3 to 5 million over. Which could basically be fixed with a restructure of one or two guys.

Even if we were still 9 million over, we could get there without cutting Gamble. If what this says is true, the team either wants some free agents more than Gamble, or doesn't want him moving forward period.

Puts #Panthers about $9M over. RT @mortreport The $123.9 mill cap number includes .9 in minimum salary benefits do call it $123 mill per tm.

Joe Person@josephperson

.@danism28 Ron Edwards will be cut. Possible restructure w/ Gross.

Right, cutting Ron gets around 2 million in cap space. I don't know how much they'll renegotiate with Gross, but you'd figure at least 2 to 3 million, maybe as much as 5. Which leaves about 10 million more you'd have to restructure to get under and sign rookies. You re-work the Johnson, Beason, Olsen, or Godfrey deals and it's not hard to get there.

If what the article says is true, we aren't even trying to negotiate about reducing his cap number, we are just cutting ties. Which tells me that we just don't want him. Maybe they see him as an injury risk/malcontent or just really want to plug some other holes, but it sounds like they're moving on.

cut em' already... this is becoming as dramatic as Pep leaving! at the end of the day he had ok games but wasn't nearly physical enough. hands down he was our best DB (not that that is a bragging stat) but his tackling was garbage. its time was a new era. a real shut down corner....oh and as for a hint, he's not already on the team!
