How much over the cap are we really?as low as 3-5 million?

yep i thought it was 6.6 mil with the 8mil adam shefter reported this morning. this is still great being that i didnt expect an olsen restructure. i think with kalil and now olsen setting an example, dlo and beason will be willing to restructure

You do realize that the Kalil and Olsen restrucuture just put more guaranteed money in their pockets. A restrucuture has to be a win-win for both parties, unless your a bubble player like Nakumara where the panthers were the only winners.

That there is virtually no possible win-win restrucuture for the team to do with Beason and Deangelo.

Honestly though Im thinking we will likely do the bare minimum as long as possible to see what kind of needs and can addressed and replaced via FA and the draft before we making a big decision though

It's really a duh statement though I suspect we will make at least one major cut prior to all that, but just something to keep in mind

A few players hit incentives that bumped their contract up, Thomas Davis with a bump of 500k. Stewart with a 200k bump from the restructure. A few other's will see bumps as well from playing time.

Carolina started this about 12 million (11.8 to be exact) over the cap counting the Carry over of 3.6 million. Add the Stewart and Davis bumps that puts the team at -12.5 million. For the sake of any other bumps from any other players will round that up to 13 million over the cap. I know a few other players will have hit incentives in their contracts that cause a bump up in salary for this season. I know I'm missing 1-2 players that hit escalators in their contracts, I just can't remember which ones right now. All of these numbers are with the expected cap of 120.9 million.

This is were you see the confusion with sites about the cap room for teams. I think some are still using the old cap number for the cap projections.

The following numbers are before the cap increase, I'll add that in at the end for the total.

Take that 13 million now and you subtract the savings from the Kalil deal, (The move slashes Kalil’s cap figure from $8.6 million to $6.4 million and he remains under contract through the 2016 season.) Link

That puts the team at 11 million over the cap, also reported in the above link. Haruki Nakamura saved the team 485,000. Link

This put the team at 10.515 million over the cap.

Greg Olsen's contract restructure saves the team 2.4 million. This put the team at 8.115.

Now we add the extra 2.4 million from the salary cap bump and that puts the Panther's at 5.715.

Person I don't think is including the 900k minimum player salary benefit which raises the cap to 123.9. Link

Explaining Person's 6.6 number is easy, add that 900k benefit back to the Panther's number and you get 6.6 Million.

Edited for the Ron Edwards Cut - This move saves the team roughly 1.667 Million on the salary cap.

Adding the Ron Edwards cut, it puts the Panther's at 4.048 Million over the salary cap of 123.9 million.

TLDR - Panther's are 4.048 million over counting the 900k minimum player benefit and Ron Edwards cut.

If you add the expected Chris Gamble cut to the numbers, the Panther's are 3.852 Million under the Salary cap.

If you take away my earlier 500k bump out of it then the team is at 3.548 million over.

i understand that. it would be a lose for the players and a win for the team. beason knows he doesnt deserve that money after being out two years, he could do what davis did. deanglo would be more difficult but he also knows he could be a june 1st cut

If it saves the team what was listed earlier of 2.5 million, I'll have to check the numbers again to check if I missed something after Caplan listed it as a savings of 1.6 million.
