Gamble counts 7.9m against our cap. We are about 10-11m over at this point. We have some tough decisions to make to get under the cap. Gamble was a good player for us, but looking ahead it makes sense to cut him and get a younger player in the draft. If we make a trade or restructure him great, but unlikely. I wish him well and thank him for his play here, but he just isn't

one of our core players at this time in his career. Thats life in the NFL.

Guys here's the thing. Gamble is probably a top 13ish corner coming off a season ending injury. He's getting up there in years but will likely still be effective. He's overpaid but would maybe be amenable to a home team discount. He's been in charlotte for 8 years for god's sake.

The Panthers will likely not find anyone better to replace him.

They need to restructure him and keep him here.

100% agree

If Gamble was that bad of a player he would have been gone a long time ago, some people dont know the hell they are talking about and probably havent been fans that long.

It's not that he is a bad player. We are WAY over the cap, he has a huge cap hit, and he hasn't been deserving of that money the past two years. Most fans love Gamble, but know the reality of the situation.

I would like to keep him here, though I don't know if his drop in play before the injury was due to him being dinged up or if he's lost a step.

If they are going to cut him due to cap issues, I think the delay is because we still haven't signed Captain. It would be hard to lose both. Captain would have an advantage negotiating if Gamble was cut. It would be smart to ensure we can sign him before we cut Gamble. Also I have a feeling Captain is going to want starter money and not nickle money.
