Bwood's Highly Anticipated Post Combine Mock (2/27/13)

Before the Combine, quite a few had moved him up into the top 20. Now, he's probably a late first or second rounder. His drills were that bad. I think a team takes a flyer on coaching him up in the mid 20's.

What in GOD'S name are you talking about???

Please nobody listen to this troll...

His position drills were horrible, he performed well in everything else though. However after the combine the highest I've seen him ranked is 20th overall and most mocks have him going in the late first or early second round.

BOTTOM LINE

The brother of NFL cornerbacks Marcus and Isaiah flashes playmaking ability and very good foot quickness, but must play stronger, smarter, and avoid technique breakdowns to be considered a sure-fire NFL starter. His skillset will still likely see him as a Day 2 selection.

@RedSchorsch: Do you consider Desmond Trufant a legitimate first round CB or a 2nd round fringe guy?" Gave him 2nd but likely goes late 1st

However, during the positional drills in Indy, he did not stay low consistently to maintain good position and this killed his ability to flip hips and change directions easily in drills. Teams really have to do their homework on Trufant to try and figure out where he should be drafted because his play at Washington was that of a third round pick, his performance at the Senior Bowl was first round caliber and at the Combine he moved around athletically like a third day draft pick.

The only thing that has him with a fringe first round grade is the fact that he ran well at the combine after he performed so well at the Senior Bowl. He lacks fundamental technique and gets high all the damn time. He sucks in press coverage and isn't very physical.

I appreciate your research, probably the first person to actually bring up his issues or use other sites to do such.

He really reminds me of Chris Gamble, both have similar knocks and both have similar skill sets.

His physicality is the only issue I see being a long term one. He is very coachable and has all the talent and potential in the world to be a shut down corner at the next level.

He will be the third corner off the board, Milliner and Rhodes could very well be gone before we even pick, and if we release Gamble - Trufant could easily be the player we choose first.

lol but whats the use of debating all the time when there is nothing good ever coming out of it. lol

The good coming out of it are guys like you learning more about prospects so there aren't any ignorant comments.

It's pretty much impossible to stop the ignorance here though so you just have to laugh.

I like the idea of taking Trufant at 14, but I think it's pertinent to address our offense with the second rounder. Who IYO are the top 3 prospects at WR and on the OL (not including centers) who will be available at #46?

WR:

1. Quinton Patton

2. Terrance Williams

3. Deandre Hopkins

OL:

1. Larry Warford

2. Terron Armstead

3. Menelik Watson

We should have opportunities to choose from all these guys in the 2nd.

I hope Hopkins' 40 has him falling that far, amazing hands/routes. All those guys are good for me there too. I feel as though Hunter and Woods will be already off the board...still prefer Nuk though.

  1. Not a Trufant fan, probably because I see the best value at DT--if Lotulelei is there, you take him. I do not see any CB after Milliner worth a top 20 pick. However, I see how someone could fall in love with Trufant--he has the tools and the pedigree.
  2. Absolutely LOVE the Jesse Williams pick. We need a stud NT, and if this happened, I would be fine with the first round Trufant selection and would develop a huge man crush on Gettlemen.
  3. Fourth round---Winters is a great pick here--I also like D. Quessenberry from SJSU to play RT until Gross finishes. Winters could be good enough to start as a rookie.
  4. Fifth round- Harper is a great pick too. I see him contributing to special teams, but he could emerge as a solid WR . I see a little Hines Ward in him to go with the Boldin analogy.
  5. Sixth round--Of course, who knows. I am not a fan of Motta--slowish and takes bad angles. However, if his is smart and instinctive, the speed is overcome and the angles can be fixed. My favorite sixth rounder is Josh Boyd, DT out of Miss St.

    • Honestly, I'm still down to trade him. Glad his stock is going up though
