2013 mock offseason draft

OK, since the guy who owns the Ravens has decided to not pay any more attention, I'm going to pick for him. And I'm gonna damn well pick somebody I like.

With the 222nd pick of the 2013 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens choose this year's "Mr. Irrelevant":

The fastest running back at the 2013 NFL Combine...

I felt like the Steelers are getting old on defense, so I went defense with picks #1 and #2. I think Mingo and Williams can be immediate starters (a position is open for Mingo and Casey Hampton ain't gettin' any younger).

Also they have a need for impact players at RB and WR and I think I got two potential starters there as well at #3 with Wheaton and #4 with Randle.

Picks #5, #6, and #7 were depth picks for me. Heath Miller got hurt last year, so I wanted another receiving threat at TE. Lutzenkirchen was the only tight end not to drop a pass thrown to him at the NFL Combine this year. Matt Scott's value is rising as the draft approaches, so I saw him as a value pick in the 5th round to back up an injury-prone Roethlisberger. And Motta sitting there in the 7th round after Polamalu was injured for much of last year? VALUE in my opinion.

What do you guys think?

Pittsburgh Steelers

1 (17). Barkevious Mingo, OLB LSU

2 (48). Sylvester Williams, DT/NT UNC

3 (79). Markus Wheaton, WR Oregon State

4 (112). Joseph Randle, RB Oklahoma State

5 (143). Matt Scott, QB Arizona

6 (176). Phillip Lutzenkirchen, TE Auburn

7 (207). Zeke Motta, S Notre Dame

^ Pretty good draft B+ IMO. Got some solid depth and guys like Mingo and Williams who could be starters, this year or next.

Is there going to be a thread to show each team's new depth chart?

I really like what I was able to do with Jacksonville, both in FA and the Draft.

Free Agency I added Mike Wallace, Kaluka Maiava, and Michael Turner to help fill in for the void left by my MJD trade. I also was able to resign Greg Jones and Derek Cox.

Really happy with my additions in the draft which are....

1: UT Sharrif Floyd

1: CB Desmond Trufant

3: QB EJ Manuel

3: DE Cornelius Washington

5: RB Stepfan Taylor

5: LB Jelani Jenkins

5: S Josh Evans

6: WR/KR Josh Boyce

6: OG/C Jeff Baca

6: TE Jake Stoneburner

7: DE Joe Kruger

I also made the majority of the picks for the Panthers and I'm pretty happy with how they turned out as well....

1 (14). Jarvis Jones, OLB/DE Georgia (didn't make this one)

2 (44). Roberts Woods, WR USC

2 (51). [from WAS] John Jenkins, NT Georgia (didn't make this one)

2 (58). [from DEN] David Amerson, CB NC State (he would more than likely be a FS)

4 (105). Brandon McGee, CB Miami (FL)

4 (116). [from WAS] Xavier Nixon, OT Florida

4 (122). [from DEN] Hugh Thornton, OG Illinois

6 (172). Dustin Hopkins, K Florida State

Well I guess I'll post the Bills draft. Think I did a good job. Surrounded Fitz with offensive weapons and got a potential stud in Ansah. Bray was a good value in the 3rd. Bills defense is fantastic on paper, definitely has potential for the playoffs.

1 (8) Ziggy Ansah, DE BYU

2 (41) Da'Rick Rogers, WR Tennessee Tech

3 (71) Tyler Bray, QB Tennessee

4 (102) Jordan Reed, TE Florida

5 (136) J.C. Tritter, OG Cornell

6 (167) Sanders Commings, CB Georgia

Excellent JAX draft... solid A.

Like the Carolina draft as well, but just wouldn't pull the trigger on Jarvis Jones when Xavier Rhodes was sitting there. And with Rhodes in the 1st, that would have changed your lower round strategy, like maybe taking Kawann Short in the 2nd.

Is Ansah gonna play DE in the 3-4? Or OLB? Like him as a player, just not so sure he's an ideal 3-4 DE.

Just not sold on Tyler Bray.

But Rogers, Reed, Tritter, and Commings I like in the rounds you took'em.

I think he can play 3-4 OLB but he would be best as a 4-3 DE. The players on the roster fit better for a 4-3 defense and the new DC said he's not going to force a scheme down the player's throat if it doesn't fit. So they'll most likely stay base 4-3.

Tyler Bray has tremendous talent. Has all the physical tools. I think some good NFL coaching can get him to clean up decisions making etc. He should sit behind Fitz(Kolb irl) and get a shot in 2014. The Bills also seem to high on him. Met/Worked out with him twice.

Yea I wouldn't have taken Jones in the first with some of the other prospects still on the board....
