Proudiddy's Sometimes Weekly, Semi-Monthly Recently Released to Home Media, Movie Review - "Flight"

Yeah right bro this moving was very good.

Denzel doesn't make bad movies.

The ending could have been a little better but this movie is certainly one I would recommend and Denzel deserved his Oscar nod.

Man, I wouldn't put it up anywhere near his best. Man on Fire and Training Day were AMAZING performances... To me, those were all-time GREAT performances.

I just had a hard time with this movie because guys like Denzel and Cheadle are incredible actors, some of the best out there... The problem with the movie was the characters and the plot itself. The role didn't test him as an actor, so it was just par for the course in what was expected.

*POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT*

I was expecting a huge twist - like perhaps it was all a dream and he actually died the morning he was doing coke before the flight or in the flight itself, and the girl Nicole was also dead from an OD, as well as the cancer patient they talked to at the hospital. So towards the end, I was waiting for that reveal and the longer it carried on, the more I saw where it was going. There was no surprise. I knew when they asked him whether it was him or the girl that drunk the bottles on the plane, he was going to take responsibility.

So, to me, it was the equivalent of reading a synopsis and then watching it after the fact. I fully expected what happened so IMO, it wasn't challenging for him to pull that off as an actor. There was no moment after the plane crashed where I felt on the edge of my seat or enamored with his performance.

I'm starting to question whether I should ever check out another "critically acclaimed" one-word titled movie again... It kind of reminded me of "Drive" with Ryan Gosling in terms of the expectations going in and then the letdown after the fact.

I basically felt at the end of the movie, "I just watched an hour and a half movie about a drunk who had a bad day on the job." I could just hang out with some of my cousins and get a much more exciting and dangerous experience without the pilot part... just replace the plane with a scooter or stolen car.

I'm not saying it was bad, and Denzel is one of my favorite actors. But, it wasn't that good IMO. Comparable to the runaway train movie he did... Just not much substance to it.

I felt the exact opposite. I watched it with my Dad. He said halfway through the movie, "Does Denzel make any bad movies?" Which i replied, "Even his poo movies are good." Anyone who has gone through alcoholism or knows someone that has knows this was a great movie. Denzel is one of the greatest actors of our time.

i think a good portion of my favorite movies are one word titles.

I actually said that to my wife, that it seems like it was targeted to or would resonate more with someone who has had personal struggles with alcohol or addiction. And the other thing was, I've been friends with high-functioning drunks, and there are still signs of a problem. The movie didn't convey those "everyday problems" just that he was running away from problems and using alcohol as an escape.

Perhaps I've seen it too much in reality to where I felt frustrated with the movie because of it. Still, I don't think it was one of his better roles. No, he doesn't make bad movies, but IMHO, this wasn't one of his best.

Not to get into too much detail, but my father has dealt with drunks in his family. The excuses, the coming over to the house only when they are drunk, the weird behavior. It definitely wasn't a detailed movie about alcoholism like say, Nil by Mouth, but it struck a nerve with him. I just watched it simply because Denzel was in it, and I enjoyed every second of it.

    • he has barely suited up for 50% of our games.  It matters pending how much of our cap and resources go that way.  If he cost in the ballpark of a Surtain? No thank you.  Let someone else  And as far we know what happens when we let talent walk away or trade them…..that’s a mixed bag.   should we of paid Norman, Bradberry at CB? They probably had earned the right to be called better than Horn at that moment of the decision.  Do we regret that? Do we regret Star walking? Can take it back to Spoon.  Flip side is probably Peppers.
    • We need to get better in the redzone. And yes that is an issue that involves all the moving parts. Oline receivers QB and playcalling. But Bryce himself has to lead the charge on that or surely we could face another blowout in one of these upcoming games. Every team no matter how good they are is going to face an opponent that imposes their will on them and requires the same in response. Those are the games where we have got to capitalize on drives. Honestly I get the sense that the Chiefs on some level overlooked us.  So while I am pleased we were as competitive as we were it certainly remains to be seen if this was the beginning for something new or just an anomaly. I think that's a perfectly fair take at this juncture.
    • He is a diva, even with Baltimore winning, he will cry and pout and ask to be traded. He cares about his numbers and stats for his next contract. Ironically, his best chance to showcase his ability was with us, now he is just an afterthought.
