Coach Rivera hints at signing Mike Wallace (edited to include link)

That's how I see it.

If true, it might indicate Gettleman's not overly impressed with our current stable.

I wouldn't be either. Still, I don't expect a major WR signing this year. We're short on cash and OL is just a bigger need no matter how you spin it. I don't expect the panthers to sign anyone that'll cost more than 3 mil this year.

I'm just going to say this...

Wallace to the right, Lafell to the left....

And smitty gets a nickel back.

Then there's Cam, DWill, JStew, and Tolbert

Oh yeah, and then there's Olsen.

Nice setup, but I gotta know who's on the O-Line before I can get too excited about it.

Also this could be taken more as "we are looking at FA WR's" than "We are looking at signing Mike Wallace".

Could just as easily be Steve Breaston lol.

Yea I think what he was saying is that they would like another vertical threat for Cam.We tried to sign Jacoby Jones last year but he opted for the Ravens.Gettlemen would have to work some magic to afford Wallace

Wallace, Bowe, Jennings, Freaking Santa Claus I dont care. I'm just excited about the possibility that we would approach the WR position with the same fervor that we have LB or RB in the past.

Agreed.

I am just hoping that their "warm temperature" does not end up beign another Legadu or Murphy type of signing.

Either bring in a legit guy or go WR in the draft.

Yea, the way I read his comment was definitely not that we're going after Wallace but that we will be going after a receiver. And I agree Hatter - assuming Doodoo and Murphy were Rivera's requests, I sure as hell hope he doesn't think third time is a charm dumpster diving for WRs.

What about adding a top TE to the passing game? Maybe that is what he meant by "warm." OR maybe that this is the time of year everyone has a poker face and misleads the media.

I think we will add a free agent WR, but I hope it is not Wallace. I think the WR we bring in is on a roster now and will be cut during the next 2 weeks.

I agree. I commented about that a week or so ago that no one was talking about this....

1. Cam throws to TE routes well

2. He plays best in 2 TE sets (offense as a whole does since Cam has been here).

3. There are a lot of very good FA TEs that can be had at a good price.

Chud was running read option early in the year in 3 WR sets which also hurt. Read option wasn't the issue...how we ran it was. It works out of run or pass sets....not so much out of passing sets.
