How about cutting Beason instead of Willliams.

It doesn't work that way. Paying him hs money and keeping a good player is cheaper than cutting him, tying up dead money in cap and signing someone else to fill the roster spot. Oh and who are you gonna fill the roster spot with because he damn sure better be as good at his position as deangelo.

It certainly can work that way.....that is exactly what Nnamdi is being told in Philly.

Williams is good....overrated though. Not worth his check here. Most of that isn't his fault but still a reality.

A solid S > Williams for example....when looking at the overall good of the team. Makes the collective team better. That S doesn't have to be better than him in a vacuum.

Solid S plays every snap at a huge weakness. Williams carries can be split and taken by VERY good runners.

Actually safeties don't take half of the snaps of the team. Secondly they aren't involved in every defensive play for example if they are lined up in cover 2 on a running play. Thirdly we have safeties who came in and were decent when Nakumura went to the bench and we will be picking up another one or two in the draft or free agency. A starting running back and a starting or back-up free safety have little in common.

Comparing Williams value to a safeties value as if they are related at all is ridiculous The whole we should cut Williams and use the money on a safety was a stupid argument when you made it. Going further down the road with it makes no more sense than before. Williams is an electric game changer who scores points and moves the ball. A free safety might get 1 or 2 picks a year and at best doesn't screw up or give up the long pass. We aren't talking Ed Reed here.

Running backs play less downs than a defensive starter but they play less than a right guard as well. Anyone think that we should dump Williams to add a back-up right guard?? Running backs are impact players who are valued for what they do to change a game. Offensive guards and free safeties if they are doing their job don't call attention to themselves by screwing up.

And no I am not going to debate this on and on, just wanted you know that there are those of us out there who don't think the argument has any legs so don't keep parading it out there as if it is a fact.

If he isn't restructured he will be cut as a June 1st.

if he doesn't take a paycut....he will be cut as a June 1st.

There are restutructures.....and there who are guys asked to take paycuts. Most guys have little issue w/ your standard Hurney magic type restrutures.

Williams isn't a starting featured RB. You seem to forget that when you start rambling.

Filling a hole with a strong player that plays for the overwelming majority of the snaps....is more important than keeping Williams to be a luxury RB touching the ball 5 times a game and playing 25% of the snaps. Stewart, Tolbert and Cam can split those couple reps Williams would get. Even with Williams reps split among those others....Stewart still wouldn't even be getting a load he is paid for.

You argue points no one makes. Should we dump Williams for a backup RG? Heck no, we should dump him for a quality STARTER on the line.

Williams started 10 of the 16 games. That makes him the starter and he was featured for most of the year. Stewart is an unknown coming off surgery, Newton will be in the pocket most of the time according to the GM and Tolbert ran a total of 54 carries out of a total of what?? 500 carries???

Williams is actually going to split the carries Newton used to get assuming Stewart comes back 100% which isn't guaranteed.

You keep making stuff up and saying it over and over as if it is fact when it usually is just your wishful thinking.

SB winners have depth. Its very unusual to go through a season with no injury issues right? Say you replace Williams with someone else and Stew goes down game 3. Now all of sudden our run game could potentially blow. How bad would that be for the offense? mmm very bad I'd say. New back, new teammate, new to playing with Cam. Man those are a lot of risks to compare with just keeping Williams and playing ball.

It pains me that you misunderstand my posts as much as you do.

1st) Nnamdi does not equal Williams

2nd) Williams contract is an albatross, one that can be remedied with a RESTRUCTURING of his current deal.

3rd) safety is a hole in our secondary, however, corner will be a larger one after the impending gamble cap casualty

4th) deangelo Williams production can not be argued, the kid is a baller and a pro bowler. His numbers took a hit with the infamous chud option. Guess what? We won't be seeing that much anymore.

If Dwill was a middling player on a loaded team not in cap hell, I would agree that he should tear up his contract or walk. Fact is,he isn't a middling player, we aren't a loaded team, we are in cap hell, and we need every able bodied talent we can dress on Sunday. If this were madden I would trade him for 2 first rounders and Ed reed, and solve both our issues, sadly it's not. Deangelo will play ball so to speak, our cap will be helped and one of our strongest positions will remain strong, all the while still being able to acquire other pieces to make a contender.

Just my opinion....making up no more as I go than you. Or this the part you claim Joe freaking Person taking a PC answering and spinning thg as some great insider scoop is now fact?

I can link you to CBS, NFL, or ESPN....all of which have guys writing about how this is a must make cut. All within recent weeks. Why don't you find someone paid to cover the NFL outside Carolina who think keeping him is wise.... Trying to spin this as my crazy idea is comical.

Um, no...Stewart goes down....Cam, Tolbert + cheap RB is a fine ground attack for a few games.

Cam brought the option...not Chud.

Williams is a luxury. An old one. He isn't part of our core. He represents the errored ways of flawed thinking.

His production can't be argued? He had one great season.....nearly a half decade ago. People here for some reason can't get past the fact you move on...
