Once Gamble is Cut, Cornerback Becomes Our Biggest Need

Yeah, that logic holds as long as we have Hardy and Johnson going up against bad O-Lines like San Diego's. The minute we go up against any type of stout line, where out tackles can't collapse the pocket and the ends only break contain every second or third play instead of every down, we're going to get thrown on for 500 yards.

this league is going to pass on you regardless ..........you have to get to the QB and stop the run.

No one is denying it isn't a need. Its just we need help at WR, OL, Safety, and Corner. Which one of those do you think is the most important right now? It isn't corner to me. It's helping Cam with a WR or shoring up the Oline. I've heard talk of drafting a safety in the first. I hope that is not the case, as with corner.

I think OL is instantly better with Kalil back. The prospect of Gross, SIlatolu, Kalil, Hangartner, and Bell as an O-Line lineup as well as the depth of offensive linemen in this draft, makes it easy for us to wait until the 2nd round to take a guard.

Our receiving core still had nearly 4000 yards last season, and can only get better with Gettis and Adams being utilized and Pilares being healthy.

Safety is a need, but Campbell and Martin played well at the end of the season, which I think allows us to wait until the 4th or 5th to pick someone up.

So, at least to me, corner seems like the most important concern right now, until someone can convince me otherwise with an argument that isn't 'Making the D-Line better makes the secondary better.'

Making the D-Line better does not make the secondary better, it just covers up how bad they are.

I don't understand this mentality. Yeah, the rules on pass interference are stacked in the offense's favor, but an elite CB like Darell Revis or Richard Sherman can shut down #1 receivers.

This is where i think you are wrong. No corner can cover the recievers that are in the NFCS if they are given the time of day. Julio, White, Jackson, Colston are elite. We saw what happened when we got pressure on the QB, our average corners looked great. This is the reality of the situation.

And i dont know what to say to you about Oline. We need help regardless if Kalil is there. We struggled mightily when he was in there as well. We need to protect Cam and we need to give him playmakers. We put so much on this kid, it is time to take some of that burden off.

We won games late in the season because the D-Line came on like crazy, and more importantly because we moved away from the read option and back to a more traditional pro-style offense.

We did not win more games later in the season because Chris Gamble got injured, or because of the play of our secondary.

But with us being $11 Million over the cap, I am pretty sure Gettleman is going to cut Gamble and a few others.

This team has more important holes to fill, I just hope Dockery, Norman and Thomas can step up and fill that hole.

But DT, OL and WR are more important holes that need to be fielded 1st. These positions are more important then a CB....

Agreed on DL and OL, but I would put CB (or even FS) as a higher priority than WR. I guess I just don't have the same faith that Dockery, Norman and Thomas can step up.
