Luke Coming on NFL Network Live

Right now.

updates/notes:

Luke thinks we need to finish games. Need to play 4 quarters consistently. As the season progressed they took a big step forward. The experience of the tough losses early in the year are a learning process and mentions learning from experience. Mentions making a stop in the Washington game at the end. They took some bumps and bruises but the defense took pride in getting a stop and helping to get wins as the season continued.

Talks about his pick 6 against Miami in college and thinks his best plays this season were against Oakland. Pressure got to the quarterback and allowed him to make a play and get an int. Most comfortable playing inside because of his experience there. Hadn't played outside and once he got to the middle was more comfortable and felt at home.

Believes a rookie could come in and add depth on defense because we had some young guys that played well...and wants to have a good defensive line in front of him. Says it would be great to add a big body in front of him, Thomas, and James. Laughs about Cam being bigger than all of the LBers and being bigger than defensive ends and tight ends.

Being asked about adding a WR in free agency or the draft: Thinks it would help a lot. Would like to add another burner to make the offense that much more dangerous.

Asked what he prepared most for in the combine: On-field stuff...40, cone drills, foot drills and technique. Said he was asked some strange questions for instance "what is the weirdest question you have been asked at the combine?" But nothing was too off the wall with him in particular. Couple of teams messed with him by showing him highlights of missed plays to see how he would react and if he could explain himself.

Interviewers joked at the end about how Luke racked up 10 tackles during the brief interview. Overall probably lasted 5 minutes or so. Luke looked like Clark Kent per usual with his clean cut look and glasses and the two doing the interview were hyping him up. Nice to get some air time and coverage for a Panther's player.

That's all I got.

Yup.

They asked him what he thought his best play was in his rookie season - he said the interception against Oakland as it enabled the offense to go down and score a TD just before the half - changing momentum.

They asked him what direction the Panthers should go in this draft - he was careful to not single out any of his teammates as needing upgraded/replaced, but he did say that as a LB you always like to have big DTs up front. They also asked him how much it would help if we added a WR like Mike Wallace and he complimented Smith, Lafell, Olsen, and Murphy but said that we can always benefit from more "depth." He gave very politically correct responses.

    • Kraven has awful shitty comic book movie vibes all over it. It's just more of whatever studio owns the rights to the Spiderman set, but no longer actually has Spiderman anymore. Wicked is probably no more enjoyable. 3 hour long musicals are tough to endure.
    • One of those guys who throws a pass that makes you yell "OMG" then immediately follows it with one that makes you go "WTF" 😳 Essentially the Brett Favre prototype...
    • The Giants games are an interesting comparison for sure. We could compare the Chiefs vs the Bucs as well, since at least both teams are largely the same as they are now, rather than the Giants whose coach lost his mind after losing to us. 30-24 KC in overtime. Hunt had 106 yards and Mahomes had 291. Baker threw for 200 yards, but 2 TDs. Their leading rusher had 25 yards or something. Our offense outperformed what the Bucs did vs KC, but being a division game we won't have the benefit of being overlooked. If our D plays how it did in the 4th quarter I think we can get some stops.  Can Bryce carry a second game? I'd rather not find out and have Chuba carry the load, but we'll see.
