Chiefs, Bucs, Jets, Bills, Dolphins, 49ers, Browns, Ravens, Lions, Vikings, Jaguars, Titans, Redskins, Cardinals, Rams, Seahawks, Raiders, plenty of teams in the league worse off at the QB position than we are.

Chiefs have Cassell.

Bucs would.

Jets probably would not because it seems like their set on either Clemmens or Sanchez.

Bills probably wouldn't because they like Trent Edwards.

Dolphins wouldn't because they have Chad Pennington.

49ers would.

Browns would.

Ravens have Flacco.

Lions have Stafford, Culpepper, and Stanton.

Vikes would.

Jaguars have Garrard which is one of their 6 QB's on the roster.

Titans have Collins and VY.

Skins would.

Cards have Warner and Leinert.

Rams have Bulger. (But may take a chance on him)

Seahawks have Hasselbeck, Frye, and Senaca Wallace (Who they like)

Raiders have Garcia and Russell.

And just about any of those could use his influences on the younger QB's or would have him in a heartbeat just in case someone like Hasselbeck went down. Yeah, the Chiefs have Cassell, but that doesn't mean they wouldn't bring Jake in for one or two years to help him out or buffer the transition.

Which of those QBs would you take over Jake? At this point, I wouldn't take any of them over Jake, though I'd be willing to give Cassell and Garrard a shot.

Warner and Leinert....eh....Warner doesn't have much left in him I think, but we'll see. And Leinert is still a gamble. Nope, there's nobody on that list up there that wouldn't at least give Jake some serious consideration if he were on the open market, I think.

I agree with you those are about the only one's I would take a look at over Jake.

One other unturned stone in this discussion is that you also have to look at the financial commitments that some of these teams have made to another younger quarterback. Prime example being Chiefs and Matt Cassel or the Jets and Mark Sanchez. These two guys are largely unproven, but the fact that they have been signed for so much more money than Jake means that the team probably is going to be willing to live and die with the guy that they've given the up front money to. Case in point, last year at this time Leinart was the favorite to win the starting job in AZ, and really had it up until a horrendous preseason game.

IDK, I think it's pretty simple, Jake is what the organization wants. And although I'm not a fan of him, I'll go ahead and reverse it.

If one of the other middle of the pack QB's were released tomorrow which one could beat Jake out?

I'd love to hear what fans of other organizations would say to the same question. Let's face it, the QB position is a target for criticism when things aren't going right. Personally, I think you could plug him in to at least 10 teams and have a short term performance upgrade. The wildcard is the leadership quotient. He has that ability and it's not something you see everyday.

I personally think the best fit(s) for Jake are with Baltimore or Miami. I don't think Pennington is any better than Jake, and he certainly has the edge in playoff performance (the last one not withstanding). I think Jake could possibly bring a fire to them that's missing.

Same with the Ravens. They have their guy of the future in Flacco, but I don't think he's quite ready to be that guy just yet. He's been 'blooded', he has some serious experience now, but he didn't show enough "it" consistently thru the season, or in the playoffs, even for a rookie. I think the Ravens, and Flacco, could benefit from having Jake there in the starting job for this upcoming season. But AFTER this season, if Jake's still the guy, then there will no doubt be problems with keeping Flacco.

Of course, none of this will happen. But it's always fun to speculate..
