Honestly for a while I was an advocate of drafting almost every other need besides WR early. I even made a lengthy thread highlighting why I believed the Panthers wouldn't select a receiver in the first two rounds.

However, Patterson possesses all the natural talent you can't teach. He has an elusiveness and vision in the open field that reminds me of Chris Johnson. He hits the hole on kick and punt returns at full speed and is a threat to go the distance every time the ball is in his hands. He makes the first tackler miss almost every time and often the second pursuer just ends up looking silly trying to bring him down. He brings the ability to run out of the backfield and add even more wrinkles to account for and a defense cannot possibly ignore him.

He is raw from a receiving standpoint. His routes are pretty sloppy and he lets the ball get into his body too often when catching. However, these things can all be coached up and improved upon fairly quickly. I trust Ricky Proehl to develop Cordarrelle and watching 89 for a year or two would be beneficial for his development.

Patterson's upside is through the roof. At this stage in his career we need to begin to build around Cam Newton because the offense and this team's success goes as Cam does. I do not think he will go top 10...if he makes it by Miami I believe we will pull the trigger assuming he tears up the combine as I suspect he will.

as much as i am on the pattersonwagon, i wouldn't trade up for him or anyone in this draft.

The Panthers won't/can't go wrong in this draft. If Patterson is there Panthers should take him! He is a beast! But if not then a DT will do or OL will as well whether it be a OG or OT. Heck I'd be okay with Safety Kenny Vaccaro. But like I said if Patterson is there we have to take him!

not if we trade up and include beason or williams.

then we convert thomas davis to a DE and his overall rating goes up to a 90.

then we turn off the salary cap and sign jerious byrd.

hell yeah

Come back to this thread when you wake up from fantasty land bro that won't be happening. We can't afford to trade up cause that will most likely cost us our second which we need. Unless Patterson falls to 14 by some divine miracle we won't be getting him

agreed. if we don't take him we still have plenty of options, even at WR in the second round. I'm really cool with the idea of just about anything, tbh.

That's a pretty pessimistic view of of things, why don't you take a little more pride in your team. Plus most of these kids would have been in middle school and catching a interest in football about the time we went to the Super Bowl. And oh yeah, how about you learn to read, he did grow up in the Carolinas.

I take pride in my team. I also recognize the fact that they have had little appeal to people outside the Carolinas until Cam rolled in.

And I know he's from the Charlotte area. I dunno why I added that part. But it is true, there is a very small fan appeal outside of NC & SC.

I was being incredibly sarcastic.

There needs to be a sarcasm font for forums dammit...

I'd poo my pants if he fell to us and it may very well be possible.

Dolphins will probably sign a FA WR and take an OL in the draft.

Bills are probably going to take a QB.

Jets are going to take a pass rusher.

Please draft this kid.

Dolphins could sign a FA WR, and STILL draft him. Giving Tannenhill two targets.

It's possible but unlikely for a few reasons

1. Jake Long probably won't be resigned so getting a new OT which will be a higher priority than a number 2 WR

2. Brian Hartline played really well this season, but he's not a number 1 and probably along the lines of a #2 WR. Plus he's already a familiar target wit Tannehill. They'll probably resign him
