Cordarrelle Patterson always wanted to play for the panthers

Interesting. Didn't seem like the sharpest tool in the shed during Mike Craft's interview with him. Wonder what the specific cause of concern is...I vaguely remember hearing he had some character concerns but I could be wrong.

I dunno. I wondered if it was that he is just plain stupid. Even though he is talented, he did not produce that much at Tennessee, but Bray was not great.

I am leading away from WR a bit anyway. Here is the entire post:

Russ Lande of the National Football Post hears Tennessee WR Cordarrelle Patterson has been "very unimpressive" in team interviews at the Combine. Lande suggests Patterson's poor interviews coupled with an up-and-down showing in Combine pass-catching drills could result in him "sliding down draft boards." As an athlete, Patterson remains a 6-foot-2, 216-pound freak. He ran a 4.42 official forty with a 37-inch vertical and explosive 10-foot-8 broad jump.

I've actually heard/read he was a great teammate and is very coachable. He obviously doesn't come across as well spoken, but thats irrelevant to me.

Starting to sound a lot like Dez Bryant without the off-field issues.

Do want!

I haven't heard the immaturity or lack of effort away from the ball thing brought up with Patterson like I did with Bryant. Dez was a top 10 talent that fell to the 20s and Dallas got a steal. As someone mentioned above I also have read that Patterson is very coachable. If Dez can fall as he did, I think its possible Patterson falls to 14. Couple his rawness with being unimpressive in interviews and it may just happen. I'd be pretty disappointed if we passed on him though.

Oh heck yeah man. I was just speaking in terms of on-field ability. I was just paralleling the amount of talent and their similar lead ups to the actual draft - both have copious amounts of ability, but both are going to be a steal because of poor interviews leading to their draft stock dropping.

From everything I've seen on Patterson, he is an almost identical player in terms of on-field ability to Bryant - rangy, explosive, etc.

Like i said in the other thread, i dont think CP is goin in the top 10. Teams picking in the top 10 this year have O line, QB, pass rushing issues. Those are more important than taking a somewhat raw receiver with a small resume in the top 10, it would be a risk. Panthers and down is about his range. Plus the quality receivers in the second round would make it tough too. I could be wrong tho, just what im thinking right now.

I am really not sure about placing him. The only team that I could see picking WR before us without a trade is MIA....I think they buy Wallace though.

    • The qb position has been eliminated due to the low probability of the success of selecting one early.  This part got me hollering the most "You can't get so hyperfocused on one position(even the most important position in football like QB) that you just draft a QB and any QB. This leads to wasted draft picks and years of torment as you are stuck in a development cycle for nothing." " "Also, if we don't get our franchise QB this draft....oh well. We got the next dozen or so drafts to keep taking cracks at it."
    • Then be prepared to draft a QB the next year. When the best one would surely not play here. Then what?   This fanbase keeps preaching patience, while other bottom feeders are finding their QB's. Panthers fans are becoming blind. The losing has caught up to the fanbase. We preaching patience when we have been a bad franchise ever since Tepper took over.   But because you don't like Sanders or Ward we should pass on a QB. Then when they become franchise changers you feel bad.   Everyone knows this franchise will continue to suck until they get a franchise QB. Chasing LBs and DEs isn't helping us. We can address the defense after we get the QB.   Cmon Hepcat don't let the blind lead you they blind for a reason!
    • Imagine posting on a forum to mock people for posting on a forum. Whether you realize it or not you just played yourself. LOL  Guess what? We've heard people like you lecture people with opinions about how *insert former Panthers front office or coach moron* knows best and we're all just idiots. This forum exists to discuss Panthers football and that includes *GASP* sharing opinions that may be contrary to what the Panthers end up doing.  If you just want a circle jerk of an echo chamber reassuring you that everything the Panthers do is brilliant despite the abysmal record on the field, I think they made a Discord group for that.
