Ten superheroes that don't need their own movie

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

Most of them DC (link)

10. SuperGirl

9. Nick Fury

8. Wonder Woman

7. Aquaman

6. Martian Manhunter

5. SuperBoy

4. Hawkman

3. Power Pack

2. Captain Marvel (Shazam)

1. Any More X-Men

I don't think I'd argue with most of those.

A few others that have already been made probably weren't needed either.

I disagree with 1.5 of those on that list. Let me explain.

The new Aquaman arc put out in the New 52 is AWESOME. Pure badass. I think, as long as you get the writer from the comic (Geoff Johns) to at least consult in writing the script, it can be done.

The .5 is for X-men, because I want a Deadpool movie, and Deadpool sort of falls MOSTLY in with the X-Men. When they had Wade Wilson in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, they started it GREAT. Wade was portrayed well, and it would have been a good launching ground for a Deadpool solo movie....IF they hadn't screwed up and turned him into a mindless, mouth-sewn-shut idiot with swords that extend out of his fuging arms like Wolverine. I think a Deadpool movie would be successful simply for the comedic value and pure badass action that Deadpool always ends up in. It'd be the most easily accessible movie based on a comic since Deadpool makes so many pop-culture references and whatnot (if you haven't guessed, Deadpool is my favorite comic book character. his new line of comics under Marvel Now! is nothing but awesome).

Other than that, I agree with the list. I want a Green Arrow movie. We have the show, but a movie would be awesome.

I couldda lived without the Green lantern movie.

Does Ryan Reynolds really need to play every other superhero? I actually think he fits Deadpool to a tee, but not so much Green Lantern and definitely not Batman.

I hated Green Lantern as a movie. Love the comics, hated the movie.

Ryan Reynolds is PERFECT for Deadpool, but last I heard, he got frustrated with the fact that no studio would pick up the script and said screw it as far as Deadpool goes. Of course, if a studio ever DOES pick it up, he will have to be one of the first offered the role and I'm sure if he is, as long as he isn't too busy, he'll take it.

Again, Green Arrow would own. The new comic arc for him is pretty awesome.

I dislike Wonder Woman strongly and really don't understand why so many people want her to have movies and tv shows.

Might I suggest you take a brief moment to review the following images...

Having done that, let me now ask you, are there any reasons you can think of why guys - more specifically, comic book geeks - might desire to see this particular character featured in a live action movie?

To be fair, again, her reboot in the New 52 is solid from what I hear (heard from a guy at the comic shop who previously HATED Wonder Woman). Apparently she's got a little more personality and her new story arc is more indulging. Still, the only reason I'd go watch it would be to see the actress playing her, since she'd undoubtedly be hot. Just not an interesting character to me.

I'm reserving ALL judgment on new DC movies until I see Superman when it comes out. If it sucks, then there is no hope. Batman was successful, but Batman could be in it's own universe completely separate from DC and get along just fine, honestly. X-Men was OK, but the first film was only "meh" (though the sequel was better, and First Class was the best, IMO). Marvel has the upper hand in the movies. Superman could be the turning point for DC, but they'll have to work hard at the others. Kinda hard to get the non-comic fans to get into some of the other characters, since Superman and Batman are the only DC characters MOST people can name off-hand.

Justice League is supposedly coming, but here's the problem.

The Avengers worked because they successfully introduced the individuals characters first. Bringing them together then amplified into the largest collective geekgasm of all time.

DC is going to go the 'en masse first' route. I've got my doubts it'll work. For one, how do you provide satisfactory introductions for all those characters without the movie being four hours long? Marvel's pre-movies did that job for them ahead of time.

Id be interested to see Gambit get his own movie...

DC characters are really cool when youre younger, but lack any real awesomeness as you get older. There just aint enough to compete with the Marvael heros, short of Batman. The Dark Knight is badass regardless of Adam West, Val Kilmer & George Clooney... Ive heard of a JLA movie for years, thought it was supposed to be out to contend with Avengers. Going back to my previous statement, I think the only way most DC heros could make a movie is by collaboration, none are cool enough to be the centerpoint, IMO. Im not a big fan of the Superman movies, any of them. I saw the preview in the theater & all that went through my head was Adam Sandle from Billy Madison -Well WOOPADEEDOO! Although I hear Smallville is cool...

Second on the Deapool film. If ever there was a comic book character born to be in the movies, it would be Deadpool (also my favorite character). I was also livid with what they did to him in X-Men Origins. I really hope word of that abortion never is uttered again.

The most exciting thing in a Deadpool movie for me, is seeing a character who is self-aware that he is in an action movie. Ferris Beuller + Blood and Guts? How can it miss? Oh, right... Marvel Studios.
