Rivera talks minority hiring and Cam Newton (Florio criticizes)

I don't think the thread itseld was a bad one. The problem is every topic regarding race quickly descends into idiocy.

Generally I don't post in the tinderbox either. I may read some topics, laugh at the absurdity, and go elsewhere.

This section has already become a giant cam sighting thread. The more actual football discussion the better.

I'd say the "descent" turned into freefall when Blue Boy jumped in.

I went back and actually read more of what he posted. Bad idea (puts IQ points at risk) :(

You don't know much about ancient Egypt I see.

I guess you do, right? I only care about genetic data when it comes to ancient egypt. Ramesses III is haplogroup E1b1a together with the amarna mummies(like Tutankhaman). Modern science, baby! Opinion doesn't matter.

Fwiw, given its location as a major crossroads between Asia, Europe, and Africa, most scholars believe that Ancient Egypt contained a number of different cultural and evolutionary influences.

Scholars can believe all they want but genetically Ancient Egyptians had haplogroup E1b1a. Same as Cam Newton. Ramesses III specifically bare this marker along with the other Amarna Mummies like Tutankhaman. It's no more a subject of debate. Egyptology has evolved from opinion to now scientific base. No more wondering caucasians theories. Don't you love it!

Well isn't this fun. It's almost like you know what you're talking about, except that you don't.

The E1b1a haplogroup is a primarily eastern/western African group. While certain lineages from within Egypt most certainly fall into this grouping, it is by far NOT the norm - neither modernly or historically. The genetic mingling is most likely explained by Bantu or similar migrations and not a direct historical lineage context.

Saying that King Tut was of a certain haplogroup does not prove that Egypt genetically derives from said grouping. It's both ignorant of the facts and completely wrong. He, and his family, are outliers and not the standard for comparison.

Ramses was the last major Pharaoh of Egypt. He does NOT represent a historical context. You're retarded.

Just hate hypocrisy. Just hate the fact that it's 2013 instead of enjoying the sports with all it's great athletes we're still dealing with minority hiring issues. While other league like the NBA it's a 1980s issue for them. Just pathetic! And of course it's racist to point that out, right? How dare one claim caucasians as being racist! I'm just too proud and educated to be patient with their stupidity. Enough is enough!

Forgive me, but I think I will take the word of people who study this stuff for a living over yours. If you happen to be a genetic scientist, then I apologize.

One issue with your assertion is that the haplo group you mentioned is only one slice of the genetic pie and leaves a lot out. There are other factors besides paternal lineage. For all we know, Tut or Ramses grandma might have been Hittite or Greek or Persian or some other race as a arranged marriage from another king looking for trade considerations or an alliance.

And then of course, there is this article

The results showed that King Tut belonged to a genetic profile group, known as haplogroup R1b1a2, to which more than 50 percent of all men in Western Europe belong, indicating that they share a common ancestor.

Among modern-day Egyptians this haplogroup contingent is below 1 percent, according to iGENEA.

Fwiw, Igenea doesn't publish its methodology and they make money selling dna results, so the article is somewhat dubious, but interesting nonetheless.

And as floppin alluded to, the family of the pharoah might not represent the population of ancient Egypt at large, so dna results from Tut or Ramses might not give us a good indication of the cultural makeup of ancient Egypt.
