Rivera talks minority hiring and Cam Newton (Florio criticizes)

No. I'm speaking of ancient Egypt. Not modern day Egypt with the Arab invaders. You need to update your little high school white supremacy history book where whites were the first men that walked the earth. Hollywood really fugged up the mind of the public the last 60 years. and you can go eat feces because you're too dumb anyway to know it's not food.

You don't know much about ancient Egypt I see.

Okay, laptop big fuging deal, did you not hear about the Alabama players that stole laptop, and used a credit card fraudulently? They were actually charged with burglary, and will be prosecuted. Cam was not.

None of those guys are in the NFL, so its a given they wouldn't draw the amount of attention that Cam or any other NFL player would.

BlueBoy mad.

I can't believe he actually typed that whites and blacks are "natural born enemies". That is some fugged up thinking right there folks.

yep. had me laughing and shaking my head that people actually still believe that crap.

only the weakest of minds actually care about race, imo. it's never mattered to me. that's just how i was raised. we're all just people.

i'll just throw this out there as stuff that i grew up respecting and that were key elements into the formation of my life that i think all would benefit from, esp. this blind hate filled kid that keeps responding to this thread.

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”

“I have decided to stick to love...Hate is too great a burden to bear.”

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”

“We must live together as brothers or perish together as fools.”

“...long before modern psychology came into being, the world’s greatest psychologist who walked around the hills of Galilee told us to love. He looked at men and said: "Love your enemies; don’t hate anybody." It’s not enough for us to hate your friends because—to to love your friends—because when you start hating anybody, it destroys the very center of your creative response to life and the universe; so love everybody. Hate at any point is a cancer that gnaws away at the very vital center of your life and your existence. It is like eroding acid that eats away the best and the objective center of your life. So Jesus says love, because hate destroys the hater as well as the hated.

Now there is a final reason I think that Jesus says, "Love your enemies." It is this: that love has within it a redemptive power. And there is a power there that eventually transforms individuals. Just keep being friendly to that person. Just keep loving them, and they can’t stand it too long. Oh, they react in many ways in the beginning. They react with guilt feelings, and sometimes they’ll hate you a little more at that transition period, but just keep loving them. And by the power of your love they will break down under the load. That’s love, you see. It is redemptive, and this is why Jesus says love. There’s something about love that builds up and is creative. There is something about hate that tears down and is destructive. So love your enemies. (from "Loving Your Enemies" http://mlk-kpp01.sta...g_your_enemies/ )”

“Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy to a friend.”

“An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.”

“I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.""

this last one isn't exactly pertinent to the discussion (or maybe it is) but it has helped get me through some dark periods of my life.

“As my sufferings mounted I soon realized that there were two ways in which I could respond to my situation -- either to react with bitterness or seek to transform the suffering into a creative force. I decided to follow the latter course.”

Eh no. He visits the tinderbox, which honestly is where this thread should have been created.

I occasionally post in the Tinderbox if I'm in the mood (often I'm not) or I find a particular topic interesting, but I'm far from a "regular" and I rarely start threads there. Went there more when I was younger. Don't enjoy it near as much these days as I did then.

As to this thread, thought about it, but didnt really consider anything in the posted article all that inflammatory, honestly. And thus didn't think it would result in Tinderbox type discussion (especially given the rules that have been laid out for this forum).

The heart of the article is Rivera saying "look at him as a QB, not a black QB" and Florio saying that didn't even need to be said because that's already how we look at him. Thought that'd be fodder for some basic discussion (Rivera vs Florio) but didn't see it taking a turn for bad things.

(and honestly until Blue Boy jumped in with his dumbass posts, you could argue it was going okay)

Perhaps in the future I should be more pessimistic about how things tend to play out here :(

I'm pretty sure he's either a troll or a kid who shouldn't really be here (13-15 at most judging by the maturity level of his posts).

He comes in with the same schtick every time. Generally I don't bother reading because when I have before I found the content to be pretty stupid, but the stuff posted here takes the cake.

No idea if anyone's reported his posts, but if the mods do happen to examine what he wrote in here, I'll be shocked if he isn't banned.

And frankly, given the way this turned, I wouldn't blame them for locking the thread.

I don't think the thread itseld was a bad one. The problem is every topic regarding race quickly descends into idiocy.

Generally I don't post in the tinderbox either. I may read some topics, laugh at the absurdity, and go elsewhere.

This section has already become a giant cam sighting thread. The more actual football discussion the better.
