New Bungie game: Destiny

I played this when it first came out. Moved on to other games when I hit around level 20. Would like to get back into playing again.

Xbox One - Montsta

I'll add you soon. Dionysusfiend.

So how's everyone feeling about the trials of osiris and the crucible changes? I'm not a huge pvper but the change in rewards might cause me to play more. Doubling the rep and marks is going to make it very worth while.

Also the new year looks amazing!

So looking at the new PVP maps....I'm all for the European Style Map!  I think it's called Widow's watch or something, but man, that is so pretty.  I'd love for us to be able to play story missions in places like that!  I'm hoping that map is in a lot of my rotations.

Anyone salty that the maps that came with TDB are free?  I don't care at all.  Honestly, letting stuff come free like that or the reef seems to be a good business decision.  It has that freemium feeling to it, but since I've paid for my season pass, I don't care.  For a new player, they get to try stuff out, even get max level, and a better rotation of maps for the regular $60 (or whatever the box games sell for now).  Then if they really dig the rest of the game, then they can buy the expansions.

I feel like Bungie has really paid a lot of attention to what the players want, and how they can make things significantly easier for returning or new players to catch up with their other friends.

Yeah I think they realized the House of Wolves was going to be a make or break release.

Everything I have seen looks legit. (minor Trials of Osiris).  I'm stoked for the live stream today.

If the Prison of Elders is the Horde Mode I think it to be....All my times....

I never saw HoW as a make it/break it for Destiny.  It was an opportunity.  Players will still play if they followed their own formula of a few missions, strikes, maps and a raid.  Bungie took the feedback to heart from the community and have tried to make a lot of changes that the community wanted.

I'm not having a lot of success watching the stream currently, but from what I've seen, I'm happy with the new game mode.  It looks challenging, and it looks like it will be a lot of fun.  I like the weapons from heaven thing and the rotating challenges.  Folks who only want a raid are going to be sour pants, but I think the majority of players are going to be thrilled.

Also, as a Titan, Bubble-Bros are back in!  Though looking at the stream for the few moments I could, all classes should have some uses.

I'm so excited for all the NEW coming May 19th!  Glad my show is over before then so I can edge my faction reps and try to get some more crucible marks!

  • 2 weeks later...

So I started HoW yesterday (but didn't get a lot into it).  I toured the Reef.  I already did the six bounties prior to launch (got a key and a ton of blues).  Then did the first story mission.

This is a great expansion!  I'm seeing how much fun this is going to be.  It might just be the newness after doing the same TDB stuff for 5 months, but I LOVE the LORE, the story telling (in the first mission), and the new Public Event style bounties are a lot of fun.  The Scorch Cannon is too much fun!  What a great addition to the game!

The saddest part about my start has been my RNG luck.  I leveled my factions for packages and got warlock gloves...and motes...yay.  No new guns.  But I did get a bunch of my stuff to 331 because of the material exchanges!  But I still need more Radiant Shards, alas!

Looking at the videos for Prison of Elders, it looks to be a lot of fun.  I'll probably do that this weekend, at least the 28 one.

Over all, I'm extremely pleased with the expansion. In July, that might change, but we'll see.  I am a little disappointed that the ascendant and radiant materials I need to upgrade my other stuff have dried up.  VOG and CE are the only ways I'm going to get the stuff I need, which is kind of disappointing.  But that's because I'm very casual.

  • 3 weeks later...

So it's been three weeks now, anyone still playing?

While I haven't been able to play a lot due to that silly RL thing, I still really enjoy it.  I'm a total PVP scrub, so I'm not touching Trials of Osiris.  There are loads of people who love it though.  One day I'll git gud!

PoE - I finally did it (on 28) last week, and it was fun.  I wish I could have done the 32 the past couple of weeks for the armor pieces (though they are strength...ewww).  I did get a G-horn, so now I can be an elitist douche canoe!

I love the reforging weapons.  That has to be my favorite part of the game.  I got the new crucible scout rifle from a blue, and it had terrible perks, then I rerolled it and ended up with firefly, explosive rounds and high impact rounds.  The first perk was OK, but I like the flexibility I have in the three perks.

And Ghorn is great versus singles, but I still love my hunger of crota for groups of enemies.  The damage area is like 3x wider, great for groups.  But Ghorn is just stupid versus single targets.  I love watching the wolfpack rounds!

I traded a couple games in and picked Destiny back up. Just picked up my level 24 warlock from September, and I had already purchased the season pass back then as well, so I had two expansions to play with. Still wrapping up Crota (working on that damn urn) and I've already beat HoW. Love some of the weapons I got in such a short time. Took me a month to get decent gear back in the beginning. Took me a week to work up from level 24 to 29. I'm about 500 vanguard rep from level 2, which means my blue armor is about to get swapped for legendaries, which makes me happy. Got Obsidian Mind off of Xur this past weekend, so that is nice.

Loving everything about the game again. Maybe I just bailed too soon on the game at the end of last year. I'm PS4 too, so most of you I can't even play with. :/

Yeah, the new progression system is really great for new and returning players.  I'm still stuck on the Urn...I just have bad luck doing the melee kill 5 cursed thralls...alas.

I love the new bounties and the targets.  I'm just running through an area doing my bounties and they pop up! It's just a lot of fun.

    • The bottom lines to me are that a) we played well enough to beat the best team in the league and b) Bryce Young is growing into a bridge QB role (his ceiling) for us. As much as I don't want BY around after the season, it seems DC can still build the O with a game manager at QB for now. Best case scanario, we can build the D through the draft this year and take a QB we have conviction outside the 1st this or next draft. If BY keeps improving, we are going to win a couple more games this year.
    • Bryce has been a completely different QB since coming back. That started in Denver where it was obviously he was playing a lot more loose and willing to push the ball downfield  Bryce continues to build off of the previous weeks performance and that’s what you want to see Bryce has been making some real good anticipation throws. Reading defenses well. Pushing the ball downfield (7 throws of 20+ air yards yesterday. 8 if you want to include PI to Thielen). The deep ball accuracy has been there. Some of Young’s best throws yesterday were incompletions. Sideline balls to XL and Moore both should’ve been caught. RZ dot to Tremble should’ve been caught. And another RZ ball to Moore that Young gave him a chance at. Bryce is starting to execute Canales offense and yesterday Canales finally opened it up a bit. Canales was to blame for the 126 passing yards in Germany as he played a more conservative game.  The next bit I’m looking for his for Young to be a bit more decisive with running the ball. Start putting that on film and it’ll help open things up a tad
    • This KC team isn't the juggernaut it once was.  How many one score games have they won this season?  How many of those one score wins would probably have been loses if Mahomes wasn't the QB?  Their secondary is vulnerable and it was obvious today.  Grandpa Thielen was able to get open at will all game long. Bryce played well, but thinking this is the exact same KC defense Young was able to move the ball against as last year isn't going to compute.  Last year's KC defense was #2 overall.  They have regressed. I've said it before, Bryce can move the ball before the red zone, but once there, he struggles.  He is not a threat with his legs and the passing windows get much tighter.  He's not turning the ball over, so that is a great place to start and build upon.  I still question much better he can get.  Beyond a game manager?  I highly doubt it.
