Who's got a chance?

Recommended Posts

For lack of anything better to discuss I thought we could talk about the battles that are going to occur later this summer. I work overseas so most of what I learn is from here. (scary thought huh?)

Below is the current Roster (NFL.com)

Bold are our starters *Marshall considered starter for Lucas*

Italics are players that shouldn't be cut.

That is 33 players out of 84 that are listed. Many are camp fodder.

The following are the players I think will be around when the final cuts are made.

Though my count isn't 53 there are too many battles for backup positions I thought I would get other opinions.

Barnidge, G... A nice TE with a bright future. Might push King for #1 Spot and push Rosario off the roster.

Goodson, M. Seems to really be showing off and we need a Goings replacement

Fiammetta, T. Our future at FB. Seriously doubt he will replace Hoover this season but should learn alot for next season.

Martin, S. Rookie impressing the staff.

Wilson, CJ leading candidate for nickel spot vacated by Marshall

That takes me to 38. Leaving 15 spots to fight for.

Who will be standing in the end?

For what it’s worth, it’s “McCown,” not “McNown.” It’s funny how often that mistake is made.

I think as far as skills positions go, the Panthers have more depth now than they have in quite some time. It will be interesting to see which receivers make the squad, especially since one or two of those receivers may be called upon to be our returner (I don’t know that we’ll be able to keep one designated returner, like Larry Beavers, for instance; though that would be nice).

Any players missing that some of you wouldn't agree with? Do most of you feel the the same about the reserves (since the starters are set)?

I really like your list. Maybe take out Beavers for Carter or just have 4 WRs and let Robinson return. I think that would open up a spot for hopefully Captain. I think Captain deserves a mention.

I think Captain will make the practice squad, but yeah, he'll get cut initially.

Carter over Robinson could happen and I really wanted to keep him on the 53 man roster, though, the staff tends to stick with draft picks till the bitter end even at the detriment to slightly better undrafted FA players (See Colbert).

I think he too ends up on the practice squad.

Speaking of which, I might as well list it: (8 players)

1) Mortty Ivy-LB

2) Geoff Schwartz-OT

3) Kevin Brock-TE

4) Captain Munnerlyn-CB

5) Jason Carter-WR

6) Lonnie Harvey-DT

7) Hunter Cantwell-QB

8) Markus Manson-RB

One thing I noticed though I disagree with. I highly doubt Dan Connor starts.

I think Diggs is starting to show some age. Rumor has it the competition was close last year and Diggs barely won out. I realize Dan is backing up Beason on the depth chart, but with the aggresive nature of the new defense, a heavy body on the strong side isn't what this scheme calls for.

    • Arm is weak? Another useless complaint who gives a flying f… if he makes all the throws accurately idgaf about arm strength. Let’s dive deeper into your complaint no zip on the ball show me a play where his lack of zip cost us anything. Show me a play where his weak arm cost us a completion or because he doesn’t have a Josh Allen cannon he didn’t make the play he needed to make. His 40 yarder down the field to XL two weeks ago was a got d…. dime his throw to AT in the end zone was a dime, his throw to XL 3 weeks ago that the man pulled out his hand was a dime about 30+ yards. What about the one handed grab to AT was a rocket arm needed? You’re logic is so self absorbed your judging the man off what you want him to have and that’s just outright goofy, not judging him off performance not off the talent he’s going against not even the situation he’s facing ex..(4th quarter down by 4 needed a TD) in which he’s outperformed all expectations vs KC vs Giants vs Tampa nobody Gives a f…. about him not having a rocket he’s noodle arm in the last 4-5 weeks has him rated as top 3 QB I think that’s way more Important then satisfying fans need for our QB to possess a cannon these complaints are getting too notch outlandish and quite embarrassing go be a dam Bills fan so your QB can have the strongest arm in the league yet he’s won nothing significant since he’s been in the dam league besides your heart he’s won your heart by having a rocket arm we gotta see what’s his consolation prize for winning arm of the year award. This is just dumb they benched him to help him because he has all the tools but wasn’t playing up to par benched him he  focused on his technique and came back and started doing what was expected what crow would they even be eating this is ignorant.
    • https://x.com/avl_mike/status/1863950938467189041 Incredible job by Brandt Tilis. Maybe Tepper has finally hired the right group and will stay out of the way. For reference, Dead Money for the past few seasons: 2021: $53.9M 2022: $52.4M 2023: $62.1M 2024: $69.3M 2025: $1.9M All that waste and ineptitude for 17 wins over the past 63 games... Fitterer deserves to be extradited back to CLT to stand trial for war crimes against this franchise. The one caveat is we'll never know how much meddling Tepper actually did, but the results speak for themselves... one of the worst GM tenures in NFL history. Look at this nonsense from this season alone in dead money: Von Bell: $9.9M Hayden Hurst: $9.8M Donte Jackson: $9.7M Diontae Johnson: $9.4M Bradley Bozeman: $7.2M Justin Houston: $3.8M DJ Chark: $3.1M Just such organizational dysfunction, from top to bottom. These weren't even good players. That 2025 dead money number will go up some with the probable release of Miles Sanders, Ian Thomas, etc., but nothing even remotely close to the sheer recklessness and stupidity of the Fitterer Era. Hopefully, we will look back in a few years and see this as the moment where we started to reemerge from the abyss... One can hope... Keep Pounding!!
