How come almost every name they give us is coming off some sort of injury? I realize we need to go cheap, but do our cheap guys all need to be recovering from an injury?

There are going to be a whole lot of cheap guys out there this year. Maybe we should look at the healthy guys first, then settle for what we can get later.

PFF isn't game planning for Rivera/FO, but to include gaining solid talent at a cheap price in an article requires another factor, like injuries from a previous year, or else we aren't talking cheap.

Ok, maybe cheap is the wrong word. How about inexpensive? We are talking one year contracts here. Reasonable pay, for a reasonbly good player. There very well could be a ton of guys, that fit that bill, looking for a job. Why not here?

Use the draft wisely, and fill in some holes with inexpensive FAs. That just may get us where we want to go.

By all accounts Gettlemen has been locked in the film room evaluating our team. If he sees a need that can be filled at a reasonble price. Why not go for it? I trust him to do whatever he can to help Rivera build a solid team. And I don't believe it takes a lot of money to do so. Especially this year.

I think Gettleman will do everything he can to acquire reasonable talent that fits under the salary cap, but whether they are cheap, inexpensive, or affordable.. signing them, much less finding solid starters is the problem. Including those without injury history? good luck...

Barden is no fugging joke man. Barden would be our best receiver. If we only added him at receiver this year I would feel like we greatly improved.

There are very few teams with cap space to pay even the best guys. If guys want to work, they will be signing one year modest contracts. The stars will still get paid. But the rest will be fighting for a lot less.

So you are saying we are not going to be signing anybody worth a poo? Even if Gettlemen can find them, they won't sign here? Too me, this offseason will offer a good glimplse on how we are viewed by players around the league.

Can we get a good RG to come here for less than he would normally make? Or a DB with tread still on the tire? How about that TE that wants more catches? Would he come here for a little less? In other words, has Carolina become a destination yet? Do players want to come here and be a part of the Cam and Luke show?

There are two reasons I don't worry about the cap when I look at upgrades. One, there are methods of aleviating the problem. And two, takes all the fun out of it.

Cut Gamble and we're half way home. Cut Gross, if we draft a stud LT, and we are even. Frees me up to think away. Once you're even, you can fanagle to your hearts content. We should be serious shoppers this year. At the right price.

For arguements sake, let's consider our needs. S, RG, TE, and DT. Normally, you don't have the crop of FAs to go through. So you have fewer resources to fill those needs. Which makes filling those needs all the more difficult.This year is different. Lot's of upgrades available. IF, they want to come here, they will.

So, S, RG, TE, and even DT should all be looking at upgrades. Whether that be the draft or the FA route. That doesn't autamatically mean you have to spend money.

tl/dr version. There are things we can do to get back to even as to the cap. Some would be unpopular, some may make you shake your head, but they will be made with an eye towards improving. And I am giddy over that thought.

And it truly boggles my mind that any team can be over the cap? I always thought the cap was, well, sorta like a set limit. If you know what that limit is? How can you exceed it? A team only has to be under the cap in present tense. They alleviate that by finagling contracts to push money to future years. Then hey have to re-finagle. Too much or irresponsible finagling will catch up with you sooner or later but it will catch up with you no matter what.
