Jordan Gross

I did this last season and don't care to do it again, but I compared Gross' Numbers to other LT's and he was near the top in every number. Sacks allowed, penalties and so forth over the last 4 years.

Not only are Gross' number comparable to other LT, he's up there at the top of the NFL in best LT's still. Yet he makes too much. lol

Carolina still had one of the Best OL's in the NFL and the main reason to that was Gross. He was playing beside a rookie and his starting Center was out for a large chunk of the year.

Gross is completely worth the money the team is paying him and his play and numbers prove that he's still a top ten LT in the NFL.

Our OL sucked last year. gross was decent but the OL was horrible

I'm actually surprised at Byron Bell's stats this past year. he gave up more sacks but his penalties went way down. Hopefully he puts it all together next year in pass blocking.

I hope Campbell gets a shot to compete

that's cause most panther fans only know how to talk out of their asses when it comes to highly paid vets. Especially Gross.

Agree. I don't get the Gross hate. He stunk against the Giants but that Giants dline was killing it early in the season.

We can't lose Gross period. His cap hit could be 19 Billion and we'd just have to make it work. Otherwise, we might as well just have Kathy Bates hobble Cam during training camp and call it a season. By the way, the 10 million range is pretty standard for a good left tackle. It's not like we're paying him something outrageous.

RT needs to be upgraded....in fact that whole right side does.

so what do we do? cut gross? and then add two new OTs and a new RG? where do we get these guys? from the draft? from FA with whatever change they can find leftover in the cap? do we want to get cam killed?

cutting gross just opens up a whole other can of troubles for this team. no way should he be cut. restructured? absolutely. but just cut? that's just asking for trouble. there is very little chance that a FA we could afford or a draft pick aside from maybe the top one or two OTs in the draft would be able to step in and do as well as gross regardless of how poorly some think he's doing and then you have to worry about that right side.

we are stuck between a rock and a hard place with gross. you cut him and you make a third hole on that OL in addition to the issues we have elsewhere.

I would like him back. But what if you could draft the next Ryan Clady and save 8 million in the process? If we are not going to draft a LT at 14 or plan to pick one up in free agency, then I would agree that we have to keep Gross because we have no one better or as good. I have no clue how they will work the cap number around, but expect they would lower it. But it would be a great time to draft a OT in the first if you wanted to get free of his contract. But he would have to be good enough to start day 1.

Joeckel will be long gone by 14, but for our scheme I like Fisher. He is a good fit and can add 20 lbs to an already big frame. The idea of a 6'8" 330 lb mobile quick linemen who excels in the zone blocking scheme and in pass blocking looks promising.. Plus we save millions in the process and have our left tackle for the next decade.

Then again everyone has us taking a DT in the first like usual. So if we do that and Gettleman has a history of going D line in the first or we went with an OG if Warmack is there, we keep Gross and go corner or WR in the second. By the second round the DTs won't be better than what we already have.

Either way there is a good chance we keep Gross if we can get his number where we want it. If we don't then LT went from being a future need to an immediate priority.
