Steve Wyche says Mike Wallace a Good Fit.

Group discussion on NFL Network, talking about FA. Pointed out that Carolina is the only team in NFCS that isn't stacked at WR.

Believed that Wallace can be had for a resonable amount of money.

Noted that Wallace needs a strong armed QB, and Cam throwing to Wallace would work.

Also noted that our running game would benefit from Wallace, Since Smith would no longer be the only deep threat on the field.

The idea has been thrown around here I know, I still think it makes sense, and I can't really think of a FA option that would be better.

In regards to the cap, I think Wallace is doable. Make it happen!

He wants a lot of money compared to what Armanti Edwards gets paid. Realistically, he is looking for what he is worth...he isn't even looking for Steve Smith past his prime money.

Which is way more than we can afford. Some WR-needy team with cap space is going to overpay for him, be it the Dolphins, Jags, Colts, hell even the Browns might overpay to steal him away from a division rival. All of these teams have at least $22m of cap space right now (Colts have a whopping $46m) while we're currently starting out in a $11.8m cap hole.

I think it is realistic in that this could be our only FA move this season. Historically we fugging suck at drafting WR's, so by grabbing Wallace we can focus on drafting defense and a late round RB. This would allow us to part ways with Jstew, and possibly Gamble, leaving us plenty of cap room for Wallace.

The truth is that of you look at the teams who get to the playoffs, win SUPERBOWLS, they have 2 on field WR's that are legitimate threats. We do not have that. We haven't had that in years. Having Smitty and a bunch of ???????'s for #2 doesn't work.

Gamble is not a make or break player anymore for this defense. Time for him to go, and go young on defense. Do this via draft, sign Wallace, get rid of the joke that is our RB's cap hit, and we are set.

You realize we will most likely have to get rid of Gamble just to be IN COMPLIANCE with the cap, right? It's not like we're tight against the cap and cutting Gamble would give us breathing room, we're $11.8m OVER the cap and cutting Gamble is almost a necessity just to make sure we can get under the cap. Cutting J-Stew actually hurts our cap. He counts $2.8m against the cap this year, but if we cut him, at the very least his remaining signing bonus accelerates onto the cap ($7.2m) which basically wipes out any savings we'd get from cutting Gamble. This isn't Madden.

Hurney didn't like to draft WRs

Gettlemen comes from the mindset of you draft one high every year. I think we draft a WR in the 1st, 2nd or 3rd this year.

Use FA on the lines and that is about it. Maybe middle of the road secondary players.

The Steelers couldn't work out a deal with him because he, allegedly, wanted Fitzgerald money, which is a lot of money by any standard.

Cap Frenzy!!!! Oh no!!!! No team has ever been over the cap before free agency and managed to obtain a free agent!!!

If this team wants Mike Wallace and Mike Wallace wants to come here then it will happen. You guys are acting like the Panthers are just gonna throw there hands up and roll with what we've got, roster holes and all.

Irrational fear of cap numbers is irrational
