DHB may be on the bubble

top dawg

Chris Wesseling, nfl.com's Around the League Writer is reporting that Darrius Heyward-Bey may be on the roster bubble if he is unwilling to take a pay cut. He would certainly be an upgrade over some of our guys, I think. If we can get him on the cheap, do you think he's worth looking into?

The former No. 7 overall pick's $7.721 million salary comes with a $10 million cap charge. DHB has to realize he won't be in heavy demand on the open market after a disappointing season clouded by a scary concussion.

Don't. Have. The. Money.

We are gonna have some money. Why do some of you keep bringing up money?

We. Are. Not. Going. Into. Next. Season. With. The. Status. Quo.

We already have our ex Raider scrub. Why would we want another?

DHB had a rough couple of years coming out, but it is arguable whether or not he has shown enough to be a WR1, but he is a WR2, no doubt. Adding a down-field vertical threat to Cam's long arm can lead to great things. Murphy was never considered a viable 1 or 2, really. That's why the Raiders let him go. If the Raiders let DHB go, it will be because he accounts for $10 mil towards their cap, not because he's crap.

naw just take a speedster in lower rounds or udfa......

This may be a good idea. Depends on who is out there, and whether or not it is deemed that they would make an immediate impact.

Glad someone gets it. No need in getting excited over free agents. We do every year only to be disappointed and having no cap room isn't going to help even if they decide to sign some. We'll probably do the usual, wait on cheap guys and that's it.

1st of all, DHB has shown exactly as much as Louis Murphy did in Oakland. Also, sure, we'll have "some" money, but not enough to spend on scrubs like DHB..

I mean, I get it. It could, maybe, possibly, somewhere be worth bringing up.. but being perplexed as to why people think we don't have enough money for this guy and then saying he was that much better than Louis Murphy shouldn't jive well with most folk.

    • First of all Sooners fan? Mods? Second if you think someone needs a specific reason to hate Texas you don’t watch real college football.
    • 100% even if rest of team is really talented if they march young out to be qb and he plays like he has for 90% of his starts the panthers have already lost doesnt even matter how good the rest of the team is or isnt and also makes it hard to even tell how good they are.  They need true competition for young this offseason.
    • It will be awesome to have an improved stadium to lose in I guess....   https://www.yahoo.com/news/panthers-file-rezoning-bank-america-111500840.html     The Carolina Panthers have taken another necessary step toward renovating their home of the present and future. Panthers Stadium, LLC, filed its rezoning site plan with the city of Charlotte on Monday, initiating an important — if mostly technical — step toward renovating Bank of America Stadium. The filings state that the rezoning relates “primarily to technical aspects associated with improvements to Bank of America Stadium,” and that the rezoning is required because “the current stadium zoning is out of date” for the team’s stadium renovation plans.   The planned stadium updates include new seats installed throughout the upper and lower bowls; stadium safety and security enhancements; a reimagined South Lawn Pavilion; upgraded restrooms; exterior enhancements (including LED video boards) and more. Planning for the stadium renovation project will continue through 2025, with construction starting in 2026 and the renovation’s conclusion in 2029, The Observer previously reported.
