Flacco's agent: He should be the highest paid QB

Whoa there cowboy. He shouldn't be the best paid guy. Flacco is barely hitting elite status and he hasn't proved he can do this every single year. Be consistent I mean, not win a super bowl. Although that is the point of the league. I agree that he should be paid handsomely but the top dog? Yeah, no.

It don't matter, he's the guy that needs a new contract and he plays QB. Eli Manning was handed the largest contract in NFL history before he was considered good and/or consistent.

edit: I don't mean to disagree with you, I don't think he deserves the contract he's going to get. I'm just saying based on the QB contracts given out over the past decade or so, usually if the guy is good enough to be considered a "franchise" QB, he'll get the biggest contract available.

Flacco put his money where his mouth was, very rare to see in the NFL.

He said that he was elite, he bet everything on him showing it this year. Good for him.

I wouldn't be surprised if you don't see more teams leaning toward not paying these guys as much in the future, and trying to build around a decent QB. Total shift in thinking, but if you can't field a team because the QB is hamstringing you, it's an issue.

The Seahawks have a shot for 3 years to do something really big, and have a low income high quality QB on the roster.

Yep. I have no doubt in my mind that Peyton Manning would have 3 rings from his time in Indy if he didn't demand to have such a large contract. That team had serious issues putting together quality defenses.

Same thing is going to happen in NO. Hopefully Matty Ice gets some ludicrous contract handicapping the Falcons. Then the NFC South will be ours. ALL OURS!!!

The Ravens defense was more stout the year before Flacco showed up compared to this year. At 28 years old, he is tied for 10th all time in the league for playoff wish by a QB. He has as many playoff wins as Peyton Manning in less than half a window of a career, and more than Rodgers as well as Eli.

Also, what was Baltimore's record from 2001-2007 compared to 2008-present? What was their playoff record in that span?

Checkdown artist? Flacco throws one of the best deep balls in the NFL.

Goddamn, some of you guys just absolutely refuse to accept that there's other good QBs not named Cam Newton. I love Cam and I wouldn't trade him for anyone, but Joe Flacco played his ass off and had one of the best postseasons a QB has ever had. He's gonna get PAID and he's gonna deserve it.

This coming from a guy who questioned whether or not Flacco would ever become elite.

Here's a question....you guys are all ready to hand Cam a monster contract yet your hesitant about Flacco getting one. What exactly has Cam done to prove he should get a top 5 contract? Has he been consistent enough? I don't think so.

lol welcome to the huddle

There was also one other important change that came to Baltimore in 2008 that you didn't mention.

Aaron Rodgers might get his extension this offseason, and it's going to be bigger than Flacco's.

As for what Flacco's agent said, of course he said that. He's his agent. If you ask the president of Fanta what the best soft drink is, he'll say Fanta even though he knows that it's just carbonated river water. Flacco's a top ten guy, but he's going to break the bank because he had the balls to ride it out without taking the big guaranteed money before he reached the end of his contract.

I hope they make him the highest paid QB and have no choice but to cut boldin so we can have a chance to sign him. Flacco without boldin and torey is crappy at best. It's fugged up the way the NFL sign their QBs, more based on teams performance rather than individual talents. That's why i can't stand pocket passers. They're the least skilled and athletic player on the field but highest paid. The NFL is kind of similar to the way this society works as a whole. The least talented people exploiting the talent of other people and taking credit for it.
