On Sunday, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter hinted that the Baltimore Ravens may cut WRAnquan Boldin to create some breathing room for themselves under the salary cap. The Ravens are in a tough spot when it comes to the cap this offseason, as they are currently projected over it, with players like QB Joe Flacco, S Ed Reed, CB Cary Williams and LBs Paul Kruger and Dannell Ellerbe to sign in the coming weeks.

Boldin continued his strong playoff trend this postseason, catching six passes for 104 yards and a TD in the Ravens' Super Bowl win, and for the quartet of games in Baltimore's run, he had 22 catches for 380 yards and four scores. This certainly muddles the situation a bit, but the financial difficulties could force the Ravens' hand talon here.

The potential market for Boldin after such a run is extensive, and it's not like there was no demand for the Florida St. product prior to the past four games, either. Throughout his NFL career, Boldin has shown the capacity for making tough plays all over the field, and it's almost as if he seeks out the contact that such plays engender. For any team that needs a player of his ilk, that's a huge selling point. And for teams in need of WR help that have designs on being alive in the playoffs in 2013 -- the New England Patriots and Houston Texans, for example -- Boldin is a particularly good fit.

While Boldin may not draw the kind of big-money deal that a player like Mike Wallace or Dwayne Bowe will, the decision on his next team may pay bigger dividends next postseason.
