After watching the Super Bowl, what position do we need to have most to win?

No disputing that the change on the OLine made a big difference with their offense in the playoffs... I was only comparing the regular season of both teams... not defending Chud's blind/twister spin-wheel way of playcalling but just making the point that the Ravens weren't that much different from us, just knew how to make plays (mainly by their WRs except for against SD) to win close games while we didn't... another top-tier WR would open so much more for Smitty, Olsen and LaFell... no one can argue with that; Green Bay is a model for that

You can't admit that the oline changes were big health while taking a shot at our Wr corp. Our guy made plays when the right play was called and the Oline did their job.

They also have the potential to be Jarrett as well.

It's the draft dude, players break out and players bust. I don't know why you have this mindset that any receiver we draft is going to be Dwayne Jarrett.

Any corner we draft could bust too, how bout that?

correctomundo. A DT could be a Jason Peter as much as a WR could be a Jarrett and as much as a CB could be a Rashard Anderson

Good topic btw

It's hard to argue against WR but to play devil's advocate, I think having a true defensive leading safety would be big. An Eric Berry type.

All I am saying is that our WR corp needs help; am I wrong in saying that? Saying a WR is needed isnt a shot at them as much as it is saying build for the future now and add another weapon... lets face it, Smitty probably doesnt have much longer to go; he probably wont pull a jerry rice or ray lewis, playing for 17+ years... we will be lucky to have Smitty here until Cam's rookie contract is up and renewed... so with that said, should that be passed on until his last year or worked on now?

Wr is a needed for the team... its the GM's job to figure out to what degree and when/where it is addressed... just like other positions such as OL and DL

As for your logic that they made plays when other things were done correctly and called correctly, isnt that supposed to be the case? No debate on that... but to what frequency did it happen?

Agreed... it would be nice to find another leader on the defense to go with Keuchly... but is that easier to address through FA or the draft as far as that specific position is concerned?

Yeah but Again I look at the roster and notice.

WE may be losing both Edwards Boys. Leaving a HUGE HOLE at DT.

WE may lose Captain and Gamble. Leaving a HUGE HOLE AT CB.

WE have a Roster Full of young WR under the age of 25.

Do you not understand this???

It's not their fault that the dumbass OC couldn't figure out until later in the season. That a running game can help the passing game.

It's not the WR fault that they are told to run deep routes when the Oline can barley block for short routes.

We made big plays this year. Our top 3 pass catching targets had very comparable season to both of the superbowl teams. We were top 5 in least drop catagory.

So our WR weren't the problem.

I will be all for WR if 1 of you guys can come up with a prospect that day 1.

Starts (meaning beats out at least Lafell for the job).

Make a instant Impact.

Makes our offense better to the point we can be lacks in fixing our other major needs. Meaning (we out score teams so we can have a few sub par DT and CB) (and gets open so fast it doesn't matter how bad our Oline is).

Examples - Like Greenbay or NO

First of all, we aren't losing Dwan, he will be a priority to bring back, and would be silly to leave after finding a team he could make a name for himself with finally.

To hell with Ron, we can find another NT in free agency or in the later rounds of the draft. Kearse is still very promising too.

You could say that we have two young corners that showed promise and aren't worth giving up on yet either (Thomas/Norman).

Now if for some reason both gamble AND captain are gone, we should be looking for a starting CB, and I have never disagreed with that.

Our staff has a ton of faith in LaFell. Murphy is still on the fence, but Gettis, Adams, Edwards and Pilares have all yet to prove themselves and have all spent time in Rons dog house.

Smitty's run is definitely coming to an end, and I'd love if whatever receiver we brought a chance to learn from Smitty while he's still around.

Gettleman says we need TD scorers, I'm agree with him and expect him to make something happen no matter what "koolkat" says.

Stop scream typing.
