Rookie Luke Kuechly >>> Julius Peppers in his Prime

still dumb thread though

Peppers in his prime was like a football god walking amongst mortals, keek, just had a very good rookie year.

only way this is even a topic is if you never watched Peppers play in his prime

Absolutely, WHEN peppers played, he was amazing....but the guy wasn't an every down player. Sure he had talent, yes he made amazing plays, and yes OC would poo themselves trying to game plan for him. But I do not believe that he made the impact on every down like Keek does.

Also, here is Peppers stats. I know 2007 was one year, but it was in the middle of his "prime"

Julius Peppers is undeniably the most overrated player in this franchise's history.

Pep got paid for a reason. No owner pays that kinda money to a scrub.

Now, being on this board for as long as I have, and looking from the perspective of the hardcore fans on the Huddle (and before the Huddle, really), I can say with all surety that Jake Delhomme was the most overrated player in this club's history. Jake.

well other than the fact that they don't play the same position and have different responsibilities...

peppers = GOAT talent but didn't want to go to war for this organization and got by mostly on his freakishness. i mean he had a bull rush and that was about it when he was here.

kuechly = not a physical freak but has impeccable technique and a great head for the game and is set to probably become the best in the league at his position in the coming years. top 3 bare minimum.

basically if you took kuechly's head and put it on peppers' body you'd have arguably the best defensive player ever. but things usually don't work like that in the real world.
