2013 Huddle mock offseason rules/ offense FA

Now that all the teams have been claimed, time to get to work. Do your homework on your team to find what spots need to be upgraded as well as scout any free agents/ draft picks you are interested in. Depth Charts should be up and completed by February 7th @ 7:00 est time in that thread.

During this time each team has the option of designating a franchise tag on one of their own free agents they wish to keep for the $ amount for that position. You must state who you will use the franchise tag on before February 8th @ 8:00 pm est time in the apprioate FA thread. (If I am tagging a WR I need to say so in the offense FA thread.) If you do decide to use the franchise tag on someone, your cap will reflect the move and the next best free agent will enter the pool. Every team will have at least 5 players in the FA pool.

Then the free agency period will begin. The start of FA period will be at 12:01 pm est time on February 9th. Each team will have a cap space figure to stay within. You simply bid on free agents you want and the highest bidder adds that player to their team. You can sign multiple free agents but you have to remain within your cap space. During the free agency period teams can also trade draft picks for players on other teams by negotiating a deal with another GM. Please do not put any FAi in the pool on your team until you won the bid for that player.

Free agency period will go into the draft( FA will be over after the draft.) The draft will start on March 2nd @ 12:00 pm. (That is the sat. after the combine) Player trades will be allowed during the draft, and FA pick ups. You may trade up or down using draft picks and whenever your team is on the clock choose who to pick.

Now stay tuned........................................................

FREE AGENCY RULES

Free agency and player trading will commence on Saturday, February 9th 12:01 pm EST. FA officially ends @ the end of the draft. The draft will begin March 2nd @ 12:00 pm est.

The top five URFAs from each team will enter the free agent pool. All other FAs will stay with their original team and you can treat these players just like anyone else under contract. You may also not put those guys on your depth chart if you want. RFA's will remain with the current team they are with, but can be traded away.

Franchise Tag: Each team will be able to franchise one of their free agents. This will cost a set amount based on position and will count towards that teams cap. The deadline for designating a franchise tag will be 8:00pm EST on Friday, February 8th. Please post who you wish to franchise tag in the appropriate FA Offense or Defense thread.

Franchise Tag prices- Offense

OL: Franchised: $10

QB: Franchised: $15

RB: Franchised: $8

TE: Franchised: $6

WR: Franchised: $10

K/P: Franchised: $3

http://www.nfl.com/n...illion-for-2013

Cap Space: At no time can your total outstanding bids be higher than the amount you have to spend! This is up to you and you only to keep track of. If you exceed your spending limit you will be penalized, your total cap space reduced by $10.

Bidding on Players in FA: Players are signed 1 day (exactly 24 hours) from the time of the highest bid.

For example, if your high bid was posted on Sunday 1PM the player will officially be signed and added to your roster Monday 1PM so long as nobody outbids you during that 1 day.

If someone outbids you, then the day waiting period starts again from the time of their top bid. This 1 day waiting period may be reduced to 12 hours or less toward the end of the free agency period.

Home Team Advantages: Teams resiging their own free agents will have a couple advantages. First, they can simply match the top offer rather than having to outbid( When matching a offer please put the $ amount as well). Second, they will get a discount off the final price after the player is officially signed. The discount will be applied as followed:

Final bid: $3-$6 = $1 discount.

Final bid: $7-$10 = $2 discount.

Final bid: $11-$14 = $3 discount.

Final bid: $15+ = $4 discount.

If somebody is a FA and appears on either list please take them off our depth chart until you win the bid for that player. We will use http://walterfootbal...m/offseason.php .This site still have not put up all the teams FA so this will be updated. Some people have been skipped over if a better prospect was there.

Teams cap space

The projected ceiling is $121, so some teams are over the cap. This just means you cannot take part in the Free Agency part or use the Franchise tag. You can still make trades and draft whoever you want those will not effect the cap.

Cutting players

Each team will be allowed to cut up to 2 players on their roster to create some cap room. Deadline to cut a player is the same as the tag which is Feb, 8th @ 8:00 pm est.Catch-22 is your player that gets cut now enters the FA pool(which bumps your 5 fa to 7 at most), and you are still on the hook for a % of that player cap hit based off the money left on the contract and years. A player with 1 year left will save 60% of his salary, 2 years, 50%, 3 years 40%, 4 years 20%, 5 years 10%. You have to let everyone know who you are cutting in the offense or defense FA threads.

Ex. Player X has a contract with 3 years and $12 left. you cut him so you would have to pay 40% of $4, which would free up about $2 off your cap.

Thanks Munch for the idea, but lets see how this works.Good Luck.....................................

Should we use walter's team needs page again as our reference for the top 5 FAs on our teams when building our depth chart? Cuz I'm looking at the Eagles there and Tapp (DE) is the 6th URFA and is listed on the defense thread, but Jake Scott (OG) is 5th and not listed here. Just want to make sure I got my references straight so I'm not checking something that's not synched with what we're using here.

yeah he does a pretty god job with naming the FAs.i dont agree with the rankings at time tho, like the lions he has a 43 year old kicker ranked higher than a 26 year old DT who might command a decent contract.so you know who got put into the pool.

Oh, and another thing. You know a good place to get a list of players that includes players on IR? NFL.com, the Eagles' page and ESPN all don't seem to include players on IR. For example, Jason Peters and Desean Jackson aren't listed for the Eagles, so I assume they were on IR and that's why. I noticed those two names right away, but I wanna make sure I don't miss some lesser known players I wouldn't think about.

edit: I'm checking the transactions page on the Eagles' page for now and just putting back in guys from IR that I would think will be back (Jackson, Peters, Mike Patterson) and dropping the guys that were just signed or promoted to fill their spots, but if anyone knows a simpler way lemme know.

How are we going to bid on players and how will the draft work? Will it be on here and will there be a clock?

you bid on players in this thread and defense thread.the draft will have a 24 hour window which you have to make your pick in.will make that thread next week.
