Here's a unique problem

It's possible, but very difficult. For most bird owners, the compromise is recognizing the body language of "I'm about to poop" and holding them over a can or something.

They'll also peck at your clothes, and that's a behavior that's nearly impossible to train out of them. That's why I have a bunch of old t-shirts that I use as "bird shirts".

Birds need a significant amount of attention. If that's not possible in your or your family's situation, I wouldn't recommend having a bird.

Wow, sounds like a ton of work, but a cool companion.

I could never have one, I work far too much to be able to spend enough time with it.

Birds definitely aren't for everyone.

They can be very sweet companions for the right person, but the situation has to be right.

New wrinkle...

Birds have an "if I see it, it's mine" attitude about stuff, so now if I set my iPad down somewhere, he automatically thinks it's his property and gets pissed if I pick it up and take it away from him.

Today, just to pacify him (and just for the heck of it) I pulled up an internet search window and the virtual keyboard just to see what would happen. He pecked out "NBVO" before hitting the 'Enter' key.

Searching "NBVO" pulls up the National Beach Volleyball Organization.

For the record, Fox is male and in the bird equivalent of his early twenties
