Trade rumor and Mock

I love CP8789's deal... BUT, I think Williams still has a lot of potential at the 4 and I don't see that interfering with MKG's development. Add to that, Pekovic is a legitimate big man. He is basically Gortat only younger. If we could swing a deal for Williams and Pekovic without giving up a pick, I'm all over that.

Is there anyone who would want Diap's talent and contract?

Diop has a huge expiring contract, if you couple that with Gortat's contract then the Suns free up over $15 mil in cap space. A lot of you don't realize that the majority of trades in the NBA are cap reasons. (i.e. Rudy Gay could probably have fetched more than what he did but for cap reasons, Memphis wanted expiring contracts and cap room.)

Gortat averages 11 pts 9 reb 2 blocks while making $7mil for the next 2 seasons. He would probably get about $3-4 mil / year more on the open market, he has more value than an expiring contract. And unless Diop's contract is not guaranteed, Phoenix would only save $7 million on the trade.

Plus you think they are giving up a pick? That would be like the cats trading Ramon Sessions' 2 year $10 mil contract for an expiring deal and throwing in the Portland pick. Doesnt make sense, if you are giving up a 1st rounder to shed salary you at least have to trade someone with a bad contract

Diop is not on a guaranteed contract and I was mistaken, I thought Gortat was on an expiring contract. If you take a look at the free agency class this year, you can easily see why it is plausible.
