Fox cutting OTAs short

I suspect that the Panthers had a certain amount of schemes and things which they intended to install in OTAs. If he is letting them go early, I prefer to think that it is because they are ahead of schedule, have installed what they need to, and are rewarding the players for working harder and getting more things done sooner than expected.

I don;t know why folks always tend toward the negative or thnk the worst.

hARD Work= great results.

The players will want as many days off as they can get, especially when they arent getting paid.

With the expectations of this team they need to get their head in the game.

Leave no exceptions on the table and then there are no excuses.

What nobody has mentioned yet is our roster, 21 of 22 starters, they vets will be fine.

Then when have our roleplayers/rookies. Not much is put on them anyway, they will be fine.

The rest of the guys will be 3rd/4th stringers battling for the last few roster spots.

I would have rather had them work the rest of the OTA's though, he's already going to cancel TC early and we do have a new D. Cord.

I know it's good to throw your players a bone. Fox does this alot. HOWEVER, they are installing a new defense and our last game played was a pretty bad loss. What's wrong with using these three days to get better before taking July off?

I suspect that the new defense is easier to learn. Trgo's was easy to defend but not easy to execute. Too many responsibiities on each play, it makes you think instead of react and flow to the ball. Meeks from what I am reading is more of a Kiffin kind of style. Run hard to the ball and tackle well. As long as folks keep their gap integrity while they rush around willy nilly we should be solid. That way we don't get killed with misdirection. One thing for sure is that we are getting faster without sacrificing too much size by picking athletic guys who are agile and quick for their size or very quick and smaller. Both work.

Damn guys, it's not like OTAs are physically demanding. They aren't even in shell's, they are in shirts and shorts. OTAs are more mental reps than physical reps. I just think they should use the time to prepare and hit TC one more step ahead.

Yeah, that's never happened before...how did that year turn out?

Maybe this is a sign that whatever new aspects of the defense that were presented were received quite well and understood.

this is nothing new. They never plan on going the full 4 weeks. Besides, he usually cancels the entire last week, at least they came a couple of days. There was an article recently posted somewhere on the observer website that mentioned how Fox likes to cancel the final week so he can vacation at his beach house in Florida.
