What about the backfield?

Perhaps it's me, but it seems like we are hearing a lot of reports coming from the first and second level of our defense. Everyone appears to be touting Meeks' defensive philosophy about collapsing on the ball, and how this style of defense may fit our level of talent on the D-line and safety's very well, but I am really not hearing anything from our defensive backfield. This has always been a big question and, historically, the weakest link of our defense. IMO we have never ever had a shutdown corner, but we have always needed one (at least one who borders on near-shutdown status).

Has anyone, who is privy to the inside of the glass, heard of any positive reports about Chris Gamble, Richard Marshall and Sherrod Martin? How are they sizing up in the defense? I realize that covering is basically covering, but does anyone know how these guys are doing collectively and/or separately thus far?
