If anybody plays Medal of Honor: Warfighter on Xbox 360

lightsout

I am looking for somebody to be on my fire team that knows what the hell they are doing that can sort of show me the ropes a bit. I am slowly getting the hang of the playing style (which really is different than Call of Duty in some ways), but I am still experiencing typical growing pains. Plus it's annoying being on fire teams with random players, because nobody ever communicates, so it's hard to really know what they're about to do, which results in them leaving me while I cover them and then I get shot in the back.

Not trying to be a hater, but, is there a lot of people that play this? General consensus is it's a pretty bad game. Is there even going to be new maps, etc? I just don't want you to waste your time learning a dead game.

There's enough. The people who are around love it. I was worried after hearing the bad reviews from people, but after playing it, I know why those opinions are out there. If you're used to CoD, you will hate it. You cannot run around recklessly. The people who hate are people who are simply really bad at the game. If you like having to play strategically, it's an awesome game. Maps are good sized for the most part, plenty of cover. You can try to lay back and shoot from distance, and there are the typical FPS choke points.

What I like about the game:

-Fire team buddy system: This is probably the coolest and MOST IMPORTANT part of the game. You want to stick around your fire team buddy. You can heal each other and give each other more ammo if you're running low (it will not take away from the player's ammo, though). I know if I ever got on a real roll in CoD I would run out of ammo and HAVE to die in order to get more ammo. That problem is solved here. Plus, you can choose to spawn on your fireteam buddy as long as they are not in a hot spot. This allows you to watch each others back and never be alone in a bad spot of the map. Health will regenerate on it's own over time, but it usually takes a bit (I'd say 20-30 seconds) to recover fully without having your fireteam buddy heal you.

-Maps. I like them. There is ONE map that I am not a huge fan of, but overall, I like them all. Good variety, good size, and you will literally never play a map back-to-back like you will in CoD. The rotation usually goes all the way through.

-Weapons and customization. There isn't a LOT of customization that can be done, but enough per weapon that you can adjust it to fit your game and enough to make it interesting. Also, you have 6 classes to choose from, and with those 6, there are 12 different nationalities to choose from. I don't think the nationality matters it terms of actually doing anything, it's just a matter of playing with your own country (US has 3: OGA, Delta Force, and Navy SEALs). Having a bad game with your assault rifle? Switch to your pointman or your special ops, or one of the other options and maybe you can turn it around. You cannot choose your secondary nor can you choose your "kill streaks". Both are dependent on the class you choose. Each time you get a "kill streak", you have a choice between an offensive or defensive option. For instance, I usually run an "assaulter". I carry an HK416 as my primary and a .45 as my secondary and I have 2 grenades. I also carry a grenade launcher with two shots. If i get 3 kills, I can call in an artillery strike or for smoke (either one, you control where it is called in at). The smoke is VERY thick and lasts a good while, so if your team gets pinned down, it's a good way to get out of trouble, or to create a diversion. There are at least 2 levels of this (I get my 2nd one at 5 or 6 kills, can't remember which), but there may be 3. Depending on which of the 6 classes you pick, these kill streaks change. It provides good variety.

-Accuracy matters. I remember in every CoD I played (up to MW3), I could shoot a guy in the leg and drop him just as easy as if I had shot him in the chest. Not in this game. Hit them chest up, they go down in a few rounds. Also, once you get out of your weapons maximum distance threshold, bullet damage drops a bit (where a weapon might cause 20 damage per bullet within the maximum, it'll drop to 15, 10, etc. the farther you are away). Again, customization of your weapon and choice of weapon matter here.

-It is absolutely addictive. Even when you're having a bad game, it's fun. It's not frustrating like CoD was for me. The big thing with this game in terms of review is that it's simply not for everybody. If you enjoy the more "arcade" type of FPS like CoD, you may very well hate this. Having said that, I have a platoon (or, in CoD terms, a clan) that I run with now and most of them also play Black Ops 2. Some say it's equally as good, just in a different way. Some absolutely hate BO2. CoD has more of a pull with pre-teens and little kids than this. I have yet to hear ONE annoying, 11 year old voice over the VoIP. It's mostly 20/30-somethings who are high. lol

What I dislike:

-Trying to play a game of team deathmatch without playing with somebody you know and can actually run with? Good luck. It's not easy. My worst games come when I'm not playing with my clan. It's not that we talk so much about what's going on (it's usually talking about sports, women, food, etc), it's just that we know how each other plays and we know where we need to be because we're used to each other. It's still fun to play solo, but it's not nearly as easy and it can get a bit boring, since nobody is there talking to you to let you know that a guy is rounding a corner on you or to tell you that you should check out "x" movie. I can play any of the other game modes alone just fine, just not TDM, because the others are all objective based, not kill based (forcing everybody on your team to attack the objective rather than run around for their kills).

-There is SOME cheating that goes on. Case in point from tonight: A guy had his demolitions class and was able to run as fast as a SpecOps guy. This doesn't happen. Demolitions class has extra armor, so it takes more damage without dying (not TOO much, but you can take a few extra rounds, which can absolutely mean the difference between getting the kill or getting killed), but the trade off is slow movement speed. He hacked this and made it a lethal weapon and royally fuged me and my team for 5 games before we got pissed and got into a different server. Though, there is cheating that goes on in CoD as well.

-Some lag at times, but not that often. The lag and frame rate issues from CoD, from my experiences, were MUCH worse at times. Advantage: Medal of Honor.

That's it, for me. I love this game. There are usually only about 50,000 people that are on at a time when I play (on Xbox, anyway). Sometimes more, sometimes less. It's not CoD or Battlefield, so it just doesn't have the same pull.

Looks like EA has given up on MoH too:

Again, I don't think it's a bad game. There are bugs and things they could have done to improve it, but then, no game is perfect. It's flaws are forgettable and not a large issue (in my opinion). I think releasing alongside Black Ops 2 is what did it in as far as sales being down. CoD is a juggernaut. It's hard to compete with them for sales. However, sales don't tell the story. I've only played BO2 for a few hours, and honestly, I'm not a huge fan. It just doesn't play like a war game. It's like Halo, more than anything now. People just running aimlessly. Again, some people like that, and that is fine. I prefer to be able to have 3 or 4 guys running near me on my team and working with strategy to hold certain points and whatnot. I just like the way MoH plays over that of BO2. Don't knock it until you spend a few hours on it.

No doubt BO2 is boring, and a rehash. It's been like that since CoD4. How do you have one of the best FPSs and a blueprint, and screw it up? Not sure, but they did.

BF3 is, imo, the king. I just sold my BO2 after playing it only a few times. I still fire up BF3 every now and then, and have fun.

I sold my Xbox 360 a few months back. Damn I miss BF3 and trolling people with the MAV. I think I had something like 3,000 kills or more with that thing. I would have games where I got 70-80 kills and only 1 death (from suiciding), highest kill count of either team and MVP all with just the MAV. Good times lol
