Jerry Rice says the Raiders coach threw the Super Bowl against the Bucs.

To be fair, Jon Ritchie, the FB for the Raiders at the time, has said for years that this was the case... It just never got the publicity it is getting now, for some reason.

I remember Jon Richie saying this years ago but no one listened. It would have been better if Rice and other teammates had spoken out and backed him then. I suppose Rice didn't want to ruin his change of getting in the NFL Hall Of Fame,if the allegations backfired and teammates were scared of losing their job and being branded troublemakers.

How can a coach sabotage a game unless he has all of the players and coordinators behind him in this effort? I doubt very seriously any of the players or coaches were like "fug it, I like ole Chucky so im going to give up this once and a life time opportunity so he can win instead of me!"

Easy....The allegation was/is that he changed the game plan one day before the game and the center had no idea what to call. He decided on passing attack offensive instead of the their usual run approach that they had been practicing. He simply refused to take advantage with their large OL that could have controlled the game.

Supposedly, Callahan changed the game plan from run heavy to pass heavy 36 hours before kickoff. Whether that constitutes sabotage or not is open to debate.

Not saying I believe this particular story (don't see why someone would throw the fuging Super Bowl), but the coaches have a big part in the outcome of a game, obviously. See the Ron/Chud duo the first half of 2012.

Also, just throwing this tidbit in because it reminded me of this story I thought was interesting. The coach of the '92 Dream Team, Chuck Daly, threw the opening scrimmage game against a group of college players in order to get the message across to his players that they weren't in fact unbeatable. That's right... Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, John Stockton, Patrick Ewing, Karl Malone, Scottie Pippen, etc. lost to a bunch of green behind the ear college players. Then they promptly proceeded to blow their ass out the water next game once Chuck called the game like a normal person.

Most of you probably already know that story, but I thought it fit the bill here.

I think this is BS, the player are just bitter about the loss and want to redirect blame, because the Bucs beat down the Raiders like a red headed step child and saying it was the coach makes their ego hurt less.

if this was true it would have come out long before now.

I say complete BS

Agree.

A bunch if little bitches trying to say that terrible performance was not their fault.
