Pau Gasol to Charlotte Bobcats- rumor...

Yeah I wouldn't necessarily pull the trigger on the deal if I am the Bobcats (or the Lakers for that matter), but it does make some sense (for both teams). I'm not sure that getting Pau would disrupt the chance of getting a top 3 pick as we'd still be pretty bad, but it would help our development and give us a #1 scoring option for the time being. I'd just assume keep being terrible for a year, draft Shabazz or Noel and then draft Wiggins the next year :)

As far as money all it does is add 7 million for next year, there isn't a FA that we are likely to go for anyway so I am all for it if the trade included Gordon, Diop, and Portland pick.

People smack on Gasol, but he had what 16pts and 12 reb off the bench last night? when is the last time a Bobcat got that in a game? He would be the best big man on the team and is a scoring threat with his back to the basket. He can also hit the mid-range jumper and makes great passes that will help all the offense. His defense is sub-par, on ball defense is ok but dont expect any help defense from him. I feel he would fit nice with Biz.

Biggest issue with acquiring Gasol to me is that it likely hurts our draft picks over the next few years, which is something that I do not really want to sacrifice. In best case scenario he plays like strong, we then either have a solid big man for a few years allowing us to take another big with potential to rotate in with Gasol or he is a 19mill expiring next year that teams will offer picks and players to obtain.

So either way i say it is a win-win situation to get Gasol as long as it doesn't require the Bobcats 1st round pick.

I highly doubt this would happen. The Bobcats know they have to build through the draft ala the Sonics/Thunder...getting Gasol and turning into an okay team does nothing for them except maybe being an 8th seed. Suck for another year, get Parker/Wiggins to add to Kemba/MKG, lure a big man FA or a drafted big from this class...and bam....Thunder East.

Why does so many people want to give Milsap the max?

best young big guy we could hope to get....and we can afford him. By thowing big money

at him, we don't have to give up assets. Plus he's young enough to be a part of the core

we're building around.

I just think he's the best choice for Charlotte, but I'm open to any young tall talent that will

stay to help build the team.

Oh don't get me wrong I am a fan of Paul Millsap... he's a very solid starter at PF. He gives you good offense with average rebounding and defense... but a max player he is not. He's a 15/8 guy at best with average defense. I'd throw something like 4/50 at him at most. He's a solid piece, but realistically he is a #3 or #4 option on a good team.

The sooner this team gets to the point where Biyombo sits near the end of the bench and comes in for key defensive situations only, the better. The guy has no offensive game at all, and Haywood and Diop look rather unskilled with the basketball or trying to secure rebounds. We need a big man that is worth a damn as soon as possible.

right....but other big market teams like the Lakers will offer him 4/50. In order to get him into Charlotte, I think we'll have to overpay. 2 or 3 years from now when it all comes together, and we're contenders

for a conference crown, it should be easier to get FA's to Charlotte.

for now, I'm afraid we'll have to bite the bullet. But at least we can afford it.

I get the idea, though I'm not sure Milsap is the guy I would target because he is getting older. Not sure who we could realistically go after, since any bigs worth a damn are making bank once they hit the free agent market (see Lopez and Hibbert getting the max last year).

Long term I think its pretty clear that the team would be better off getting a high pick this year AND next year, but it will be tough convincing fans to get behind another shitty season next year and there will be pressure to make a splash

I thought Milsap was fairly young. If we can get a great player in the draft this year, and a great

player in FA, we could be decent next year, perhaps mid-draft range. We have to give up a first

rounder in the next 4 years, but we get 2 extra. Maybe we could throw in one of those with our

first next year to move up and get another key piece without having to lose so many games.

I'm in for the long haul, and I like what Cho has done a lot. Maybe I'm just a little impatient. lol.
