One step forward, two steps back. The story of the Carolina Panthers.

Our special teams went from abysmal to decent once Rodgers took over. Getting Dave Toub or April would have been stellar, but I'm not unhappy he's the guy.

As true as that is, going for a trick play on 4th and whatever was stupid. Really really stupid. That play sticks in my mind and makes me cringe. I don't see it as a lateral move like Shula, Rodgers is horrible to me. Toub and April would have been amazing.

If I remember correctly, Nakamura was supposed to read the defense and call off the play if it wasn't in a position to work. But trusting dear old Haruki with that probably wasn't a bright idea either.

Ah yes. The oblivious samurai... again falls back to Talent..

One thing I forgot to mention was the promotion of Ricky Proehl. That's a good step.

What do those labels have to do with Cam fans? You lost me there.

Well I guess I should have said 'new' fans...but most our new fans are Auburn/Cam fans, which makes sense since the Panthers really haven't done anything recently to gain fans other than draft Cam, unless there are fans of losing lol. Newer fans give those labels because they have not been through the past years of a failing franchise. They can say it's Cam getting settled in, or at the very least aren't tired/worn out of constant losing and failure...yet. Excusing/rationalizing the failures comes much easier to them, especially when they consider we have not have a real QB, but to those who have been here a while we know the problem with this team runs much deeper.

Older fans, while they might agree with the labels, at least understand where I am coming from, they have been through much more than the new fans and tend to use those labels less...except of course for the 'hoorah homers' who seem to basically happy no matter what and can reason/excuse anything the Panthers do. I'm just not one of those fans.

One reason to be optimistic for next season. Supposedly, Cam does win games when he turns the ball over. We won the last two games against the Raiders and Saints with Cam throwing ints. Both games he came back and put together scoring drives. I think he is finally maturing and this is a big plus.

Throwing picks in those games is a step back but getting things together mentally and pulling out the wins are two steps forward.
