Feb 4, 2000 Shula fired as OC...

I didn't hate the retention of Rivera when it was announced. I preferred someone else, but I swallowed my bitterness over his mishandling of this team and I was willing to give him another shot. After this horseshit move though, I'm fuging done with him. We had a couple of vacancies to fill and we could have brought in proven, talented people to fill those vacancies but because of Rivera's insecurity of his job we promoted from within. We promoted part of the failures to continue the failing. I'll never give up on the Panthers but I have fuging given up on Rivera.

Everyone that saw Smith play knew he was going to be special. Not being given a chance and then succeeding when given the chance is not the same as sucking and then 13 years not sucking....that rarely happens.

Exactly...when given a chance, he succeeded. Yeah Shula got a chance, but it was with who at qb? Shawn King? He had a better relationship with Cam (who is 3/4 of our offense), than chud did,,

We might as well hope for the best.

If the Panthers get a decent o-line, and gives Newton a little time, its not going to matter much.

If he fails, Rivera fails and the lot of them will be gone this time next year and we will most likely have a high draft pick.

If he succeeds, well, then we will have something winning NFL teams have, continuity.

Gettleman absolutely must fix those lines.

Alabama fans are some of the most loyal, informed, and passionate fans in the world. They hate Mike Shula more than Cam Newton. That really tells me all I need to know.

Look, I'm not saying we are going 3-13. We might even make the playoffs. But I feel like that is our ceiling. If we play out of our minds and catch breaks we can make the playoffs with this roster and coaching staff. But we don't stand a chance against other playoff teams. There is a clear separation of class between our staff and those playing this weekend.
