What would be your reaction if Chud does better than Rivera next season?

he's aggressive until the end of the game.

that's when defensive coaches generally show their true colors and revert into "protecting the lead" mode which traditionally means tap on the brakes, eat up clock, and make your defense hold them.

mike smith has turned that into an art form in the playoffs...and by art i mean monkey splattering poo on canvas type art.

Doesn't help when your OC you give pretty much full control to....has no understanding of when to run and pass.

Yep, that pretty much explains it.

I hope that either Rivera or our next coach will be one of the 'boot on your neck' til it's over type of coach.

Personally, I think a possession without scoring points is a failure, especially with the way the game is evolving offensively. It now seems like in most games that the last team with the ball wins the game. Unfortunately, those are the situations in which Rivera has failed us.

Maybe if Coach sits down and watches the ruthlessness that the Harbaugh brothers get out of their teams, he can learn something. Wonder if an old dog can learn some new tricks? I know that this team has the potential to move the ball at will with the right play-calling.

very well put and agreed, esp. about possession without scoring being a failure. you don't leave points on the table. offense not scoring is just as bad as defense allowing a score. neither should be tolerated. the goal should always be to put points on the board and keep the other team from either scoring or catching up.

is it realistic? probably not, but that shouldn't stop you from expecting it and requiring it from your players. you set the bar high and they'll make every effort to reach it, providing they are equiped and believe the importance of reaching that bar as much as you. even if you come short, you've probably reached higher than you would have otherwise.
