OK, so if no heir to Smitty is in our draft plans, or in the draft at all, then FA is critical

There are pluses and minuses to drafting a WR in the first round, when there is the likes of A.J. Green, or perhaps Julio Jones, Dez Bryant, or possibly even a Justin Blackmon or Kendall Wright...maybe. But if a legit WR1 is not in our draft plans, or is not in this draft period, then the same old problem remains: We are fuged if 89 goes down for multiple games. With Gett already alluding to the fact that we need to get some more playmakers/TD producers, wouldn't this mean that a big time WR is in our plans for FA? This, of course, would mean that some prolific---not totally unexpected---moves will have to be made to fix and clear cap space. So saying it is one thing, but internalizing the fact that fan favorites will be gone is probably necessary for the mental health of the unreasonable. Prepare yourselves, people. For me, it's gonna be a fun ride.

I have a feeling that we are not going to wing it this time. Having only Smitty as our only legit, take-it-to-da-house WR is not gonna fly in 2013 with Rivera's job on the line, and Gett at the helm.

No one on that list excites me. Wallace is gonna want more $$$ than we can afford, probably Bowe too. Jennings has had injury problems lately and ain't no spring chicken himself. WRs Welker is getting old and will never leave the system that's the only reason he's been successful. No one else is even interesting except....

One of the two Legadoodoos at the end of the list!!

    • his height, size and arm will forever cause problems and limitations...that is what it is.  I think to a degree, the law of averages is just coming into play a bit with him.  So as he plays more and more, you just flat out get the decent days mixed in too.  Which is just going to happen.
    • Good point. He's definitely better in 10-15 yards. I think that's his biggest improvement. But he wasn't 3-10 +15, he was 3-7, with at least one drop (minor but still). And with multiple passes at 14 yards completed. This passing chart doesn't look like at By one, lol. He threw more "deep" passes than Mahomes (NOT comparing him to Mahomes in a skill way lol), or at least more beyind 10 yards.
    • Karlaftis and Danna have been pretty inconsistent so teams have been doubling Jones and able to contain their pass rush.   But the good thing is that yesterday, we schemed well against Steve Spags Defense, Canales married the surrounding personnel with his QB through play designs within his comfort zone and was able to get downfield at will.  He was able to execute higher difficulty throws and look a lot more comfortable.  It tells me that Canales has a good system in mind, and had an edge gameplanning wise against Spagnuolo - which is nice to see.  It's a bit to see-saw at times with either going way too pass heavy or way too run heavy, but I think he's finding out what works.  It takes time to have it come together, and sure, I could see regression happen against a better front-7, but this was good for the entire system gelling.
