List of buttholes that hit pucker factor 10 during Gettleman's presser

Gross played well. As is the case for the most part with ol, the only time they're noticed is when they mess up. Bell got shoved back on his heels fairly often while the interior was just foul.

RG needs to be filled, and I don't mean the 3rd.

He was not good this year, he got beat way too much. Plus not having Kalil and having Silatolu as a rookie meant all three position on the left side and middle were suspect. Add that hangman was playing center so we had to replace the right guard with a backup and he was never a great center and what would you expect. With Kalil back next year and Silatolu with a year of experience, and Hangman back at right guard, the line should be better with or without Gross.

Even before Kalil got hurt we were horrendous, We didn't run block for poo all year. We need new blood at LT and RG for sure, I don't believe Amini will be a liability next year, things clicked for him midway through the season.

When Gross is gone, I think a lot of you guys are gonna realize just how good and consistent he's been over the years. Not many franchises have been fortunate enough to have had an anchor like Gross at LT for as long as we've had him. However, he's no longer elite and he's not worth what he's scheduled to get paid. I hope he'll restructure.

Everybody is pretty much right. Gettlemen will find that Marty's desperation was sensed by the agents of our players and they have deals that makes it difficult to cut them. Marty was an idiot and we will pay for it over the next few years.

Gamble's deal was older, so he is the most vulnerable. He is 100% certain to be cut or dramatically restructured. I have heard conflicting reports on Gross and how much cutting him would actually save us. If you look at the team needs across the NFL any given year, LT is on about half of the lists. We have so many other needs, cutting Gamble and a few smaller contracts makes more sense right now.

I think there is no way DeAngelo Williams (with the #s he posted) will not be a June 1 cut. Remember, they have Tolbert, Stewart, and put Tauren Poole on the IR to protect him from being snatched from the PS, (according to rumor).

However, in relation to Gross (and others) Gettlemen said that the player's contract will not be bigger than hiss value on the field. When Gettlemen watches Gross, who he knows is getting old, will he see a player earning his contract? Will he think, "I can find a cheaper guy in free agency or on the bench who can play at this level" and trade or cut Gross? If cutting Gross only saves the Panthers $6m, but you think you can find a player who can play better for $5m and who is younger, what would Gettlemen do? He said that he was going to be objective (letting people know that the days of Marty rewarding loyalty are over).

I would say Gamble and DW are on the endangered species list

Gross is not as safe as folks think, because restructuring old players is ususally a bad idea.

Beason is protected by his contract--it costs too much to do anything with him

Anderson could be gone

Thomas Davis has one of the most screwed up contracts ever

I know its been mentioned but I'm too lazy to search...is Gross' deal something we can restructure for cap space or is it a likely release?

Don't forget he is one of the few locker room leaders for our offense. At least that was how it's been portrayed for a few seasons now through the local media. That's a big void if he's gone.

I think you are right. Silatolu used to break the huddlle and immediately look over at Gross. I think he will restructure and retire a Panther. If am Gettlemen, I am guessing that I have 2 to 3 average years left in Gross. Hangartner was never a RG, and I do not know why we would even try that. We need a 340 lb road grader who can pass block.

Move Bell to G, Gross to RT and draft a Stud LT.

Great plan. Make the right side worse to fix the left. Bell cant play rg, he honestly shouldn't be a starting rt either. Anyone know who played rt when dwill and stew went off for 2,200 yards?

We need to draft lt and rg this offseason. Then bell needs to be replaced next year.

Cam was getting killed because of Gross. Whats the problem?

"...the consistently good Gross..."

But of course a huddler like you knows this stuff better than the people that actually watches every player on every snap...

Gross is not an all pro. However, even if we spend the 1st rounder there is no guarantee that will be an upgrade (the first year, the draftee might need a year or two on the right first).

Gross will probalby take a small pay cut but he is safe on the team.

We should give a hard look at Barret Jones. He played center at Alabama, but also played everywhere on the o-line.

He is the no. 1 rated center . He could replace Hangartner who is aging out and provide options if someone goes to IR.

Thoughts.
