By the way, you guys DO know the money is provide renovations to Bank of America stadium, right? Jesus Christ.

Or maybe we should just let the stadium go to waste, have Richardson die, and be a huge candidate to move without a better/new stadium in the works, right? Then again, with the way people on this site constantly whine about every little thing including this, maybe that is what you guys want.

I see your point but Im tired of the owners constantly threatening the public that they will move their franchise to LA if we dont give them what they want. The reason there is no team there is because the league\owners will no longer be able rattle their local community. Once a team is there it will all go away...

If the Panthers want to throw away what they have here in the loyal (cough) PSL holders, the local TV deal, and JR's stadium and be that team, then let them leave... no big deal to me, Fug em... The only reason I follow them is because I live in Charlotte... It sure as hell aint because they are a winner...

I welcome a move to LA if it gets us a real owner and we become competitive. Sitting in Charlotte sucking isnt doing much. So many people in this market have "second teams" or root for teams in other markets because of our losing stigma. We're virtually guests in our own house on gamedays. Id rather pull for a winner from afar, we'd still be the Panthers.

No one cares about the NFL in LA there is too much to do there. If people really cared football in LA the NFL would have been able to keep the Raiders or Rams in LA. This attitude is why eventually this team will probably move to LA and then there will be bitching and moaning beyond belief.

All KT wants is an African American owner of the Panthers. If you believe anything other than that, you are a dillusional fool.

The Bobcats got more money from taxpayers to build the TW Arena than the Panthers did to build BOA Stadium.

So are you for giving JR $125M?

There's a lot of stupid in this post. JR has never "threatened" to leave for LA.

Second, if you are supporting the team "just because" you live in charlotte then you shouldnt be more than a casual fan anyway and have no business being on a message board.

Third, do you realize that the tax (assuming it's true without a link) is actually very small in comparison to what most NFL cities pay?

Fourth, do you know that any tax imposed would likely be a hotel tax or something else to lessen or eliminate any impact on local residents.

During the season I'll admit that I'm the first person who gets caught up in the idiocy of the posts on this board. I'm too biased to think objectively about the team when they are on the field. In the offseason I begin to realize just how dense and unintelligent that 95% of posters on this site really are.

Quote in the Charlotte Observer.

Taxpayers got a good deal when Bank of America Stadium was built, at least compared with the subsidies given to many NFL teams.

The public spent about $60 million on land and infrastructure, but the team built the $187 million stadium itself. Some of that money came from the sale of Personal Seat Licenses, in which fans paid for the right to buy season tickets.

In Minnesota, taxpayers are paying for half of the cost of a planned $975 million stadium for the Vikings. In Indianapolis, the public paid for almost all of the new $720 million stadium for the NFL’s Colts, which opened in 2008.

It is crazy how much more these things cost now.

How much money does JR have himself? He should suffer the most for the losing culture he has created in Charlotte. He should be able to take care of almost all of that money himself. Or at least a good chunk of it. Put back to back winning seasons together first before asking the public to provide it all.

While I agree with what you are saying about how the owners use LA they would need two teams to move these before this crap stops. Any stadium built there would be equipped to house two teams and a second team would bring higher naming rights ont he stadium. If one team goes there and succeeds then the way owners use LA as a barganing chip would likely get worse.

The Panthers have made this city much, much more money than it has taken. And it is not even close.

In all honesty, relatively speaking, 125 million is not that much. And its not like JR is wanting that money to for hookers and blow (which would be pretty awesome). Its an investment to IMPROVE the stadium.

Has JR been wise and mistake free? Hardly.

Has he spent money on players? Yes. Albeit, not in the best fashion. But he is putting up the funds.

He wants to upgrade the stadium to help make it more attractive on Sundays.

With the bright future ahead for this team, he wants the stadium to reflect that.
