Now you see why LA has no team. Built in bargaining chip.

Imagine the goodwill and # of fans that would increase and angst that would go away if the team simply came out of pocket?

It was a closed meeting because he knew.

Will there be some guarantees on what will be upgraded? If people are going to give money, they should at least have some sort of expectation on what will be done. If it's all going to private sweets so the rich can have more fun with wine and cheese, I'm not so sure I'd be "game" for that.

They seriously, seriously need a sound system upgrade.

Keep in mind that according to the Panthers, they have already invested 50 million dollars out of pocket on renovations over the course of 16 years and spend $10 million dollars annually to maintain and operate the stadium.

So if you count when the franchise and stadium were built, that means that JR has spent 248 million on actually building the stadium (using PSL licenses), 160 million in upkeep (10 mill a year x 16 years), and 50 million on renovations.

Scorecard- Panthers 458 million over 16 years,

City of Charlotte 60 million.

Now, who is milking who??

I am consistently surprised that people willingly, almost gladly ask for their items to cost more, and for that money to be sent to any government entity.

My paycheck today was significantly less because of the FICA increase. I didn't ask for that poo. That money is going to be wasted and ill never see it again. At least the penny more you pay for a burger will go towards a stadium upgrade like padded toilet seats.

We will see it after we vote for it. I'm paraphrasing Nancy Pelosi, of course. Nobody has a problem with that fleecing though.

Oh, don't kid yourself, I am against almost all taxes.

If there was a guarantee that the tax would come off the books as soon as it was paid back, I could possibly, maybe, somewhat get behind it. But that will never happen, this is a win for JR and a win for local politicians, as they know it will never go away, and they will have more $$$ of yours to spend how they would prefer.

Bad idea all around.

You're from Wilmington right?

I see you are jaded by Port City politics. I'm a native Wilmingtonian and I to am jaded. That stupid convention center y'all built is a real winner. That place has got issues.

think of this too, panthers salaries paid to players every year is around $110-128 million over the last 10 years, anyone wanna guess how much tax revenue has been generated just from that.

City of Charlotte and the state are making out like bandits, these guys acting as if its their money that's going to this is a joke. its not, this is nothing more then a tax break for the panthers for the next 3 years if that.

People need a lesson in sports and buisness impact economics
