for the first half of the first game. it was seen as a joke from there on. the only good things that came from that was rod smart and the sky cam. everything else = FAIL.

as for this new league, the only way it has any chance of surviving is developing a relationship with the NFL as a farm or development league used in the same way NFL-Europa was. players will choose to go to the NFL first and will only go to the UFL is they can't make it with the big boys...this goes for coaches and players alike.

I wish it was a farm-like system and the teams were affiliated with the NFL teams somehow. Like if there was a league for an expanded version of the practice squads.

I think they are hoping to get some kind of farm league status going on with the League at some point, but they have to prove their worth first. The season will start during the summer and end in the fall, during the first few weeks of the NFL. And they are only going to play on weekdays, so they won't be in direct competition with the NFL. I think I might have heard they have a contract to show games on VS....but I'm not sure about that. So, I think they have a chance, but many have tried and all have failed...even the NFL's actual developmental league, NFLE.

the xfl could have been something they had what a lot of the startup leagues did not..but they took it too far and failed..

anyway i think one day someone will make a good league for football...just need lots of money to loose..because the NFL has it flaws the arena league was geting some steam..but this recession is killing it.
