When it comes time to resign Beason....

Recommended Posts

Right, 88.

2001-11 games played

2002-8 games played, I/Red in Dec 2002

2003 11 games played

59 games in 7 years

beason...32 in 2 years.

it took morgan a couple games in his 4th year before he could do what beason did.

also....

morgan: 284 career tackles (4.8 per game)

beason: 216 career tackles (6.75 per game)

it took more than 4 years for morgan to get past 216 tackles.

I did not think anyone would think I was comparing beason to Morgan. But we were very high on Morgan and very close to as high as we are on Beason before the 03-04 season started. Things change. IF he was up for free agency after this season then I say let's extend him and pay him well in spite of the shoulder issue but he's not and I want to see if that shoulder is going to be OK or if he develops a habit of hurting himself.

we are fortunate to have his services for 3 more seasons. id o not see him as the type to hold out for money.

same here. i mainly did that to show how much of an upgrade over morgan beason really is.

morgan got a pretty nice paycheck based on his potential that was never quite realized. beason has shown us more than what we could have hoped for in morgan. he will get paid well. fortunately it won't be as much as an elite/high end Dlineman.

Morgan was a damn good MLB as good as anyone if not the best when healthy. Even Beason seems convinced he was the best. Personally I think Beason's just as good, maybe not as fast as Morgan but he commands the defense better than Morgan did. Maybe thats because Beason can stay on the field.
