When it comes time to resign Beason....

Recommended Posts

Not sure what the market will be but he needs to stay and be a pillar of the defense. From an idealistic organizational approach, he needs to stay through a 2nd contract where he will be productive while we groom other talent as backup and an eventual replacement.

Personally, I hope he retires here and will remain with the team in some capacity.

8/5/2007: Signed a five-year, $12.51 million contract. The deal contains $6 million guaranteed, including a $3.2 million signing bonus. Another $500,000 is available through escalators. 2009: $735,000 (+ $2.5 million "signing bonus"), 2010: $857,500, 2011: $980,000, 2012: Free Agent

I bet he get a new deal before this one is up though...

so three more seasons with us trying to extend him (most likely) after two more. I don't see how we can predict things now. How many predicted similar extensions for Morgan after the SB and how did that work out?

Not trying to be negative Nancy here but it seems pretty futile to paint him as tops in the league 3 years from now. Although he has the character and skill set to be as much. Ask Mark Fields how quickly things can change and keep supporting our stud MLB but don't add pressure and flame contract negs just yet please

Compared to Morgan, how many games/seasons/plays has Beason missed. You can go percentage or over an equal period of time.

Without looking, I seem to recall Morgan missing time before the SB

maybe, probably, but after 20 something tackles in that game I remember Panther fans solidifying him as a Panther for life and happy to do so.

Stuff happens. I love Jon as much as the next guy and don't want to see anyone to start expecting too much from the guy. He is not superman and as proven, can get hurt and run over.
