Only true in a vacuum. In the real world there are other teams with vacancies who will hire the best prospects.

Noone should fool themselves into thinking that we are such a great OC job that a top prospect will turn down other jobs to come work here. The hire must be made with all due haste, as long as the decision making process is kept intact, to land someone we actually would want working here.

the players need to get the playbooks and have them essentially memorized or at least well read heading into camps.

we can't assume that we will keep using chud's playbook.

also, the right OC may not feel like hanging in limbo. they might just decide to go with someone who wants them over someone just thinking about it but not ready to act.

Why would Rivera interview a guy who will change everything unless he wants a change or thinks that Shurmur could easily make the transition. I assume that the HC and the GM have a plan.
