But in coming here, he knows he will not play ONE down unless Cam is hurt. He's a QB. He wants a shot. He'll always have interest in going somewhere where it's possible to play. It isn't possible here. So this "job" here does not look good. It looks like 16 games on a bench.

Which also translates to 16 games of drawing a paycheck without having to take a beating.

He may indeed view himself as a potential starter, but that doesn't mean the teams that have opportunity will. If they pass on him, being the backup here would be a pretty good fallback. And I'd argue it's a better option than holding out for a starting job that probably isn't coming.

Bottom Line: Someone's gonna wind up with the backup job here, and that someone won't be a top flight QB. Backups are backups for a reason.

But if the pool that we're choosing that guy from is Jimmy Clausen, The Golden Calf of Bristol and Matt Moore, no question I take Moore.

and if you guys remember, Matt Moore is truly one of the best BACK UP QBs in the league.

Him or Campbell I'd be happy with as a backup.

I'd take Jason Campbell, then Matt Moore as a No. 2. Then a bag of stale pretzels, a ball of dryer lint, some dried up pens, a few sticks of rotten carrots, a rusted out 1976 Yugo without doors, and then I'd possibly think about Jimmy as a No. 2.

If we got Hue Jackson as OC, might make it unlikely that Jason Campbell signs on as a backup. Jackson benched him two or three times out in Oakland (for Bruce Gradkowski, even).
