Bobcats End Up with Portlands Pick. Who Do You Want.

Me personally, I would double up on PF and hope one turns out to be good. This is a very weak draft.

Anthony Bennett and Tony Mitchell.

I would also accept Shabazz Muhammad and Tony Mitchell. As Shabazz may be the best player in the draft. We have MKG already but Shabazz is way more explosive. He is a bit of a ball hog though. Hes a Kobe Bryant type.

Also NBA greats Tim Hardway and Glen Robinson sons are in this draft.

The draft was weak two years ago and Cho decided that there wasnt anybody at Portlands pick (#19) worthy so he pulled off a trade. I'm kind of hoping he does the same thing again with this weak draft. I am pulling hard for Portland to lose so their pick falls into the #13-#16 range. If the draft was today I think that pick would be #20.

Portland hasn't been doing too well lately. If the season ended today, we would get the 14th pick in the draft (unless they pulled off the miracle and hit the top 3 in the lottery).

Portland's pick is top 12 protected. As of right now if they possess the 14th pick, we'll receive that pick. The only way we can get their pick is if it's 13 or lower.

if Austin from Baylor drops to 14, I'd take him. Otherwise, I'd probably go with

Plumlee.

At 14, I'm thinking we take a big and hope we get lucky. Of course, it can't be

any worse than what we have.

If we don't take a big with the first pick, Id love to have Austin or Rudy Gobert at 14. Im not in love with Plumlee.

If not a big at 14, id go with Tony Mitchell or Alex Poythress

    • While we all know that draft status means little about guaranteed performance, it seems to matter when it comes to second and third chances.  A seventh rounder, for example, would be cut and delivering pizzas long before an equal first rounder. Having said that,  the system (less so for his position, but who knows) matters.  The coaches matter.  His maturity matters.  He will compete with Barno and Clowney for snaps.  Barno (6'6" 245) is big for the position and is coming off an ACL injury.  He could play SAM LB and might be better suited for that position--but with Wonnum, DJ Johnson, and Eku Leota over there, Barno's athleticism has forced him to the pass rushing specialist side.  Barno has no QB hits or sacks in his young career (he is 25).  Chaisson--unlike Barno, had 2 sacks in 2023.  He is 24 and was drafted in 2020.  I am not optimistic, but the ability is there. Under these circumstances,  I do not see him being cut.  Barno's ACL should slow his development and Clowney is 31.  Clowney is up and down throughout his career, so you never know what you are going to get with him.  I also expect the Panthers to be watching the waiver wire, with the first opportunity to grab a pass rusher, but you know they don't get cut often.
    • I would not give up any draft capital at this time , Our first rounder next year will probably be a top 10 pick ,  If we are to spend more cap space lets put it on a CB such as Gilmore .  We need to see what we have on our young WR core and beef up our defense a little more .
